Casino Royale Inspired Plaques by Matsui

I don't think I have ever seen a comparison picture of these Hotel Splendide plaques and Casino Royal plaques so decided to shoot one for all to see, so you all get to compare the differences in size.

000657.jpg

The Hotel Splendide Plaques are quite rare as there was only one run - a few hundreds were made.
The second run was stop midway by EON.

    Hi Kan and thank you for sharing this pic!

    I have the Matsui made plaques.

    How much do you think those Hotel Splendide plaques would cost, if available somewhere?

    Kind Regards,

    Pete,
    Of course not. They are far from B&G quality. Anything close to it will have to be Abbiati plaques.
    B&G only deal with Casino, but Abbiati will deal with individual so at one time I did approach them to make these.
    But it turn out super expensive - as they require minimum order and I am don'tt have $30,000 to spare - can I loan some buddy :)
    000658.jpg

    Back to the Splendide Plaques - they are still super nice though - constructed in exactly the same way - but better.
    1. Thicker
    2. Bigger - rare sizes for any plaques - you hardly find B&G or Abbiati plaques that size
    3. Better Adhesion quality - not like those Casino Royal plaques

    I like the B&G stuffs or Abbiati's due to these features:
    Lunette - the clear / semi transparant windows
    Raise Borders -so the palques don't stick together when stack
    Better quality overall
    Also you cannot copy B&G or Abbiati stuffs - they are multilayered with unique materials - made like currency and copy proof.

    Which plaques were used in the film casino royale? The hotel splendide plaques or the casino royale plaques?
    The ones that are made by matsui have the lettering casino royal and not casino royale. This must surely be an error?

    In Casino Royale they used the originals made by French company B&G,
    which makes high quality casino stuff etc. and as someone there stated before they only deal with
    casinos not with normal customers.

    "Casino Royal" -plaques were made by Matsui and letter E is missing because of the legal issues -{

    As far as i know original "Casino Royale" -plaques are now quite rare to obtain or at least quite expensive.

    About a year or few back i saw one plaque, which went for around £400 ;)

    Were any "hotel splendide plaques" used in the film casino royale?
    Are the matsui "casino royal plaques" the correct size and weight? (the same as used in the film)

    No, as far as i know and have read "Splendide" -plaques were custom made by group of fans.

    And unfortunately Matsui "Casino Royal" (without letter E) are smaller size and
    far from the quality than the screen used ones -{

    B&G = Bourgogne et Grasset, a French company which made the original "Casino Royale" -plaques.

    And as you might already know, poker chips and cards were supplied by Cartamundi. -{

    So what size are the plaques used in the film?

    Matsui $500k plaque is 85x65mm & the $1m is 95x66mm.

    So what size are the plaques used in the film?

    I'm not lucky enough to have them in my collection, but i suppose
    the "Splendide"-plaque size is quite close or even the same size as the originals.
    (look at the pics posted at this topic)

    I think you should send a pm to texas007 as he's an expert at this area amongst many other things -{

    Since B & G only deal with casinos could abbiati make some screen correct plaques from casino royale?

    Yes - Abbiati could make the closest thing - but they will never spell out Casino Royale.
    You will get the real lunettes like the B&G and riase borders - first class materials and construction - life time durability for real casino use.
    See post 5 - my final design - so all is done and ready - we just need $ 15,000 to make it happen at a minimum - they have a minimum order you know?
    Are we in?

    50$ for high quality casino plaques, i'd say it's a fair price. And i'd say more collectible ones than Matsui "Casino Royal"
    If we get enough takers, i'm in -{

    I agree but we would need a lot of takers to split 15000 us dollars...
