Brioni and Churh's in GE

Great article in the last issue of "Mr. Bond!", the official magazine of the Italian Bond club LeCercle.
Article is written by Piero Cirino with the support of Brioni and Church's shoes and is reveling all the cloths and shoes worn by Pierce Brosnan in GE.
For this movie Brioni prepared 49 different suits in 24 different models. Of course not all of them were used.
Mainly JB wore suite model "Augusto" with slim fit model "Snello" (that means slim in Italian) pants in various colours and fabrics.
Here are some more details:
On board of the yacht in Monaco: Blue woolen double breasted blazer model "Plinio" with metal buttons. Woolen sporty sand colour "Snello" trousers.
Tuxedo model "Orfeo", one silk button and classic 6 buttons vest. "Snello" trousers. Despite all the rumors and guesses the tuxedo is always black. and not midnight blue.
M office: Prince of Wells checked single breasted suit model "Augusto" with sand background colour and blue and red checks regular fit 2 buttons. 6 buttons classic vest and "Snello" trousers.
Visit to Q: Dark grey suit with blue check model "Augusto", single breasted 3 buttons. 6 buttons classic vest and "Snello" trousers.
Tank chase and train: Blue colour bird eye suit model "Augusto", single breasted 3 buttons. 6 buttons classic vest and "Snello" trousers.
Cuba: Beige cotton gabardine suit model "Augusto" with "Snello" trousers.
Regarding shoes Church's informed that Bond wore the following models: black "Balmoral", brown "Chetwynd" and black "Diplomat".

In the following issue will be described the clothes from TND.

Thanks! Greatly appreciated... keep us posted when the issue on TND comes out. :)

Btw, I agree the tux in GE was black - but I do believe Hemming herself stated that she used midnight blue for TND.

I'll also be updating my Bond Wardrobe Archive with this info, for those who rely on it as a resource...

    Marco,
Is their plan to cover all the Bond movies through to Casino Royale, for each movie Brioni has been involved in?

    Nice one, Marco!

That bit about how there were vests for the M's office and Tank chase suits corrolates with what we knew previously (see here: http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/33435/bond-clothing-archive/page/3).

It re-enforces, in my mind, the suspicion I had that the vest for the Tank chase suit was initially destined to be worn on screen, but was eventually not used, perhaps because of the physical activity/stunt work that Brosnan had to do on set.

And as urhash also pointed out previously, the vest for the M's office suit may have been removed because the director/wardrobe may have felt that a 3-piece suit in EVERY scene just wouldn't sit right.

Great find once again. And now we know who made the Manticore pants, too. Look forward to seeing urhash put this up in the archive!

Yes, this is the plan. I will post TND when the next issue will be ready. Probably in a couple of months.
Moreover as they gonna open a Brioni factory outlet not far away from my hometown, I know they would be interesting to arrange some Bond event as well with Bond/Brioni cloths.

An outlet Brioni/Bond event? That sounds great, be sure to warn us in advance. I myself will start saving my euros...

Some great information here. Surprised the 'M Office' suit is the same model type (Augusto) as the other business suits. Perhaps that's the pattern and it can be made with 2 or 3 buttons, center, or double vents etc.?

Yes, the Brioni RTW/MTM model names are based on differences in the cut/pattern/silhouette of the suit and can have details adjusted within that pattern.

Unfortunately, the next issue will be ready only mid/end of April. I have sent a mail to the responsible of the magazine and he phoned me right away. Unfortunately in the next issue won't be the Brioni special but it will be a special regarding Turnbull & Asser cloths from Connery to Craig. He has explained me that the Brioni special takes longer than expected and everything is done by some forum members with good will and some spare time to spend in researches etc. I will be waiting the summer issue, what else?
  • urhashurhash USPosts: 986MI6 Agent
Can't say I'm terribly interested in reading about T&A's contribution (aside from trivia). We all pretty much know what type of shirts were worn! =P And heck, there's even a gigantic cinematic gap between Connery and Brosnan where T&A shirts weren't worn at all (except once by Moore in Golden Gun...)

Oh well, perhaps there will be some nice bits of info about the making of the ties.

    i dont know i'm looking forward to the turnbull and asser issue, always been interested in the exact specs of the shirts they all wore and the tie. cants wait. :) -{

Do we know what shade of brown "Chetwynd"? i.e. Dark brown, tan, etc.?

I think this is the one. They only come in one shade of brown.
