The Spangled Mob on Bond 23?

I'm currently reading Fleming's Diamonds Are Forever and I noticed the main villains are the only ones left to appear on a Bond Movie (not counting short stories), I'm talking about Jack and Seraffimo Spang, also known as the Spang Brothers. I'd like to see them on the next Bond movie, so a lot of remaining Fleming material could be used. Express your opinions :D

Hmm, not really. They always seemed quite forgettable villains. Then again, they could be beefed up for the Craig era and made really nasty rather than cartoonish, like out of a Scorcese film. I can't even picture these two.

I think we will see "Mr. Gray" of Quantum in the next film, set in Canada ......

DAF is a fun novel, it seems a bit goofy at times, but it is rich with material.

I've always thought the idea of twin villains has potential, but the screenwriters would have to come up with characters far more interesting than the Spangs--they're hardly in the novel, and when they appear they're not together and they have little impact.

Well I must agree that the Spangs are pretty weak villains but EON could work them out and do something great.. for example ignoring Seraffimo's western clothes and/or making them menacing just like real mafia leaders.

I think it's a good idea---but use Fleming's Spang Bros. as a jumping-off point. IMO, Bond is overdue for a truly powerful lunatic in the main villain slot...and twin brothers could be a nice spin on that. I'd even keep the Wild West town motif as a possible finale locale---19th Century-era train and all. Have one of them work out of NYC, thereby working in a couple of unused LALD novel elements as well.

If any of the Bonds can withstand a "Brooklyn stomping---eighty percenter,"*...it's Craigger. That's the sort of Bond he is ;)

*...or the blowtorch rope escape and steamhose from MR...or the broken pinky finger from LALD, et al...
