Coldheart96, those are a lot of nice pictures you have there, and I really like the poker table theme too. Very Bondian!
One of my favorites that never made it into a Bond film is my P5C
Although, the regular P5 made it into Never Say Never Again just for a quick moment:
And Octopussy
And even though the P5C did make it into The Borne Identity:
Still, it's just not the same as a Bond film.
Cheerio!
"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people...To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." -George Mason, during Virginia's ratification convention, 1788
I appreciate the last two posts but the New Berettas, like the new Walthers, just do not have that classy look that the old model 1934s did:
That was a sweet pistol, and probably my second favorite .380 after my PPK/S.
I wish the Bond movies would move back more towards that appeal to classiness and subtlety that the old Bond movies up through Goldeneye had. And I also wish they would tone down the unnecessary level of extremity in the action sequences a bit too.
On the Seecamp, I love that little pistol, but it is not really masculine enough to feel like a realistic side arm of James Bond, the super spy. I do however think it would be a PERFECT pistol for the Bond girl or the Femme Fatale. And, if I had a close girl friend right now I would get her one of those in .32.
My first two choices for the new Bond gun would be the ASP/ ASP2000 (ideally) and then Walther P5C (see prior post). I think both of those pistols are the best.
Another set of pistols that I think are totally awesome and certainly Bondian enough are the CZ75 Compact and the Jericho Baby Eagle Compact:
Those two pistols are very similar in overall design and differ mainly only in the material of the frame (CZs are sometimes alloy) and the shaping of the nose on the frame and the slide.

thesecretagent, when you say .380 PPK's are rubbish, are you referring to the dreadful gun currently made, or to the pre-1968 Walther PPK? And no, it wasn't created for the US market. The .380 PPK was extremely popular with the Sicherheitspolizei ("Sipo"), Waffen-SS (especially the 4th Waffen-SS Division "Polizei", recruited from the ranks of the police who were used to carrying .32 PPK's and, without retraining on a new gun, simply switched over to a larger caliber), and Kriegsmarine during WWII.
"Those arguments about the .380 PPK vs the .32 are pretty common. .32 is more accurate, reliable and kicks less.
Poppycock. I have both pistols. The .380 is just as accurate and reliable.
Rubbish? An Ulm Walther from the '60s?
.380 or not, a German/French PPK is not rubbish."
THANK YOU!!!!
"The .380 versions have overly stiff slides, less refined trigger pulls, and sharper recoil compared to the 7.65. Reliability and accuracy seems better with the 7.65 as well. I seem to recall that "Gun Tests" magazine recommended the PPK in 7.65 but not .380."
Gun Tests was dealing with the current model, NOT the pre-1968 PPK. Looking at WWII era PPK's in .380, which I've been doing lately, I have never encountered ONE with any of the characteristics you're ascribing to it. And yes, I happen to be looking for a WWII-era gun (preferably Kriegsmarine, since SS Sig Runes on any WWII German gun add on a few hundred bucks, even though you actually had more SS-marked pistols than Kriegsmarine-marked pistols...).
Ian Fleming would like this thread. I'm sure of it.

In the new book coming out in June, Jeffery Deaver has given 007 the Walther PPS. To me this is a perfect fit, as many sources have said that the PPS is like a PPK for modern gun users. Even with the short barrel, it does perform well in terms of accuracy and is very compact.
I've shot my PPS (9mm) a couple of times since I purchased it last year. Nice feel to it although it does seem a little lite in weight. Personally, I think it would make a fine replacement to the PPK. Although I would prefer Bond carry it as a 40 S&W instead of the 9mm. Just my $.02.
Bond: "Who would spend $1 million to kill me?"

I haven't used a handgun for over two years now. I had a trip planned to the states for a couple of months ago to see friends who shoot a lot. One is a SWAT leader in New Jersey and he hooks me up pretty good when I'm there. However, a few work problems stopped that. You guys are really lucky with your gun laws. I love the pps coldheart, and mr ice - that Sig looks good too. I used to own a p226 and they're brilliant. Hope you both have a good shoot. -{
I still have shotguns and rifles, my most recent is a GSG-5 (MP5 copy in .22) that's a hell of a lot of fun!

Lets agree to disagree and leave it there............BEFORE it gets nasty!
Yeah, I'm sure a great many would. But I am not an American so it is not for me to comment on what they should or should not be. When I said that they were lucky - meaning American gun laws - I meant that they were still allowed to take part in the sport of handgun shooting disciplines, unlike in the UK where there is a total blanket ban. I'm not for people being able to purchase a handgun quickly, carry it upon them or in their vehicle (maybe it's seen as necesarry in certain parts of the US - I don't know) but to be able to be considered for a licence in the first instance, purchase and use the handgun at an authorised club/range is something I consider lucky. I shoot game, target and claypigeon/skeet with rifles and shotguns, but can no longer use a pistol because of knee-jerk reaction, ignorant public opinion, and a government who felt they had to do something because of a monster who killed children in Scotland. The fact he held illegal guns as well as licenced, and used an illegally held weapon for most of his killing spree went largely unreported by the press. As was the fact that he was deemed unsuitable for gun ownership by two police officers who were over-ruled by the police chief (a fellow free-mason).
I am not a "gun-nut", in fact I go months without even opening my firearms cabinet. I am thoroughly responsible and taught weapon handling in the army for ten years and went to four war-zones. I have seen what guns and the people who use them can do. However, I enjoy the sport of shooting. I certainly don't belong to gun forums and never would. I have only posted on this site in relation to what Bond would or should use in his next outing.
Home Office figures show that firearm ownership has gone down by 25% in the past ten years. It also shows that gun crime has gone up 330% in those same ten years. Licensed firearms owners are the last people to look down on in regards of gun crime and safety.
I don't have a problem with anyone who doesn't agree with these or previous comments I have made. Opinions vary and always will.

Amen to this. Especially since, being a competitive shooter AND a strong advocate for concealed carry, debating gun laws is the one thing I actually DO get nasty about...I will concur and say "let's agree to disagree" (especially for the sake of my ill temper with regards to this subject AND that debating gun laws would be OT...).
"(a fellow free-mason)."
I'd also say delving into conspiracy theories is also OT...especially given that my paternal grandfather whom I was very close to until his death was a Freemason...

Nothing conspiratory about Hamilton's and the Cheif constable's much documented membership of the same freemason lodge. Two firearms officers agreed he was not suitable, the cheif vetoed this and sixteen primary kids were killed. End of.

Well, firstly, apologies on the misunderstanding of conspiracies thing. As for this, it truly depends on what kind of debate on guns I'm having. If it's organized person vs. person with set rules and specifically stating something to the effect of "let the audience decide" (even via the internet) or indeed ad hoc in-person, then I never lose my calm. On the other hand, an ad hoc debate via the internet is a quick way to get me angry.
By the way, are you gonna eat that?

Wow ! Some knickers in serious twists here !
I really don't see anyone having a debate here on the gun laws 7289....I think you jumped - nay, took a bloody big leap - and got completely muddled And your last remark looks like a threat ? I take it that it wasn't meant to sound like one as tempers and guns don't mix.
thesecretagent...neither am I an American, I meant British gun laws....and you did comment, btw. I know all about illegal weapons...heck, where I work I bet I could get one before you got to your gun cabinet....I'd add a ' ' smilie here...but it's not really a joking matter. I mean no disrespect to you - of course not everybody who enjoys shooting is a nut (not that I ever implied that)....but it only takes one bad apple etc. You enjoy it - fine...no problems from me. One of my very good friends trains the GMP firearms unit, so I can understand that. I merely made a comment that I would be happy for tighter - or I should say properly enforced - gun laws. A comment, thats all...I have no desire to debate the issue at all....I hope we understand each other here ?
Dalkowski110 - you do get nasty when debating gun laws ? I'd rather leave that confession there....enough said I think.
When the topic of guns first appeared on AJB many years ago, all the Mods had a chat about whether gun topics should be left open....more Mods than not wanted the threads closed - much as all political debates are - because it was felt they would just cause arguments and bad feeling. We decided to give the threads a chance as they were being discussed in a civilised and adult manner....and, I'm happy to say, still are to this day....
My personal viewpoint is MY viewpoint on the gun law....I'm not here to try and convert anybody and I very much doubt I would anyway. I merely made a comment...and an extreemly brief one at that....I didn't call for the immediate drowning of anybody that has held a gun or likes guns..so, I must admit, was more than a little suprised at a couple of the reactions...
If anybody wants to contact me via PM...please feel free...other than that...I think we need to get back on topic...and that includes me.
