What is it with James Bond and water?
At the end of over two-thirds of the movies he is in or surrounded by water...

DN - boat in the Caribbean
FRWL - gondola in Venice
GF - island off the coast of USA
TB - life raft
YOLT - life raft
OHMSS - WHAT NO WATER?
DAF - the Queen Mary
LALD - WHAT NO WATER?
TMWTGG - Chinese junk
TSWLM - sea escape pod
MR - WHAT NO WATER?
FYEO - yacht in Greece
OP - sailing barge
AVTAK - a shower
TLD - WHAT NO WATER?
LTK - a swimming pool
GE - WHAT NO WATER?
TND - makeshift life raft
TWINE - SOMEBODY HELP ME, SHOCKINGLY I CAN'T REMEMBER, IT'S THAT CHRISTMAS JOKE, I CAN'T WATCH IT ANYMORE
DAD - island off Korean coast
CR - Lake Como
QOS - WHAT NO WATER.... well there is a lot of snow.

Is it a sexual stimulant or something?

    You're onto something Chrisno.
Regarding your TWINE amnesia: Try timing a really loud sneeze to coincide with the Christmas joke (that's water too... sort of).

Plus, remember they're still wet from the dive in the bosphorus...

you forgot a couple of things,

in moonraker he goes to Venice, and rides a gondola. [just saw it on blu-ray, amazing]

and in on her majesty's secret service the opening scene contains a fight in the water.

and in the worlds not enough there is a submarine scene were bond and christmas end up in the water.

and in goldeneye, i dont no if this counts, but bond swimms in a pool and sits on a beach near the water.

oh and the story of quantum of solace is all about water sort of :)

nice observation, never thought of this {[]

In Live And Let Die, Bond is hanging above water which has Mr. Bigs sharks in it.

How can you forget the live and let die sequence, when he jumps across the crocs to escape his captives!

You could also argue he has a knack for being immersed in air, mainly travel by air.

The fact that something like 75% of the Earth's surface is water probably has nothing to do with it. Right?
Very often, Ian Fleming put 007 in or near the water. Fleming himself was an avid swimmer and his own love of the ocean, snorkeling, etc. became a part of the James Bond character. If you read Casino Royale, LALD, MR, DAF, Doctor No, TB, OHMSS,
or YOLT; the short stories QoS, The Hildebrand Rarity, Risico or Octopussy, you will find that all of them have some story element on, in or near the water.
The fact is, the ocean is powerful, mysterious and yes, sexual. The film makers have picked up on that. It is also a way for Fleming and the movie folks to show the rest of us just how different Bond is. Not everyone can swim a couple of miles without tiring, take a HALO jump into the China Sea or recover a military computer from a sunken ship.
Bond and the water go together like Champagne and caviar.
Bond wouldn't be Bond without it. {[]

Valid points, plus the Connery - Brosnan Bond was a Commander in the Royal Navy, all the actors except Lazenby and Dalton were seen as the character in Navy Uniform. As a result the ocean and often the tech that goes with it, is a familiar environment to him.

As I understand it, Craig's Bond as part of the reboot has been given a different history in the services, being a Black Ops Marine? (I am guessing here!)
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Actually, the ending of OHMSS did involve the water somewhat. Bond and Tracy were riding along a coastal road, and the ocean was in the background, IIRC.

And, near the beginning, he takes a boat over to another boat where he finds the dead Admiral's body.

Lest we forget, in how many Bond films is there a BOAT shown of some type? And in how many a HELICOPTER? Remember to include CR '67 and NSNA. :v
