Hello
this is a little bit off topic, but i'm actually looking far a good shop (preferably in/around London, Nottingham or Canterbury) that stocks a very large choice of scalextrics, corgi, minichamps, model kits , etc and might have some back catalogue and some rare and collectable models (well not the 60s stuff, that would be too cool) ... i only know Modelzone, http://www.comet-miniatures.com in Lavender Hill, hamleys and Toys'R'us, but if anybody could recommend some other "special" places that would be really top .
i'd like to ad a few recent items to my collection, but can't seem to find a shop that stocks all the ranges decently .
thanking you in advance for your help .

of course, theres always harrods in london as well.
the trouble with older rare models is many people who have them don't want to sell, or know that if they take them to a shop to flog, they'll be offered peanuts for them.
its a bit of a specialist area, and you're better off looking into auctions and ebay tbh.
you're more likely to find the rare and older models still on sale in the little pokey type shops, instead of the high street big names. toy's r us is complete crap these days unless you're after space aliens and barbie dolls.
good luck hunting.

thanx for reminding of that one, totally forgoy 'bout it ... thought it might have closed .
will definitely give it a try
MG thanx for the update .
indeed Forbidden Planet is one my usual stops as well, but the choice is so poor on the bond/spy side since they moved away from new Oxford street .
nothing exceptional in Nottingham either (same shop but smaaaaaaaaller), the movie shop in Nottingham closed down as well now .
the problem is that i live in Brussels and only have only a small amount of time everytime i visit the UK .
regarding the specialists/collector area , i know my way . When i used to live in Mile End and Blackheath (well that's now 20 years ago) i remember going to a toy fair nearly every two days (even small ones in churches, local communitys, ...) all around London and area . And there were still loads of Vintage and toy collector shops ... Hornchurch, Greenwich, ... and of course that fantastic shop in a little alleywway off St Giles High Street ... but that's all for the nostalgia side now ....
best regards

They have a large selection of Scalextric and all the Bond related cars and models you will want. You can then get a taxi to Forbidden planet which is only a few minutes away by car.
Hope that helps
Here is some location information with a link to a map http://www.londontown.com/LondonInformation/Shopping/Model_Zone/31df/
was hoping (well maybe a bit too much) to get more info on shops equivalent to Russ's or comet miniatures ...but i suppose due to internet all the good local shops closed down now .
