For Sale; Goldfinger Homing Device Replica Prop - SOLD

minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
Hi there guys, well eventually here's something i can bring to the table.

Pictured below is a framed Goldfinger Homing Device. The replica prop is held in a mountboard frame, roughly A3 in size.

The homing device is machined from brass and features a working slide action, which is sprung loaded.

The replica prop is kept company in the frame by a copy out of my sketchbook, which details the sizes and some notes on production methods and other bits of random info.

If anyone would like to pm me regarding it, please feel free. Looking for offers around £150, plus shipping.

Cheers for your time as always,

MG -{

Just another little detail, you can actually remove the prop from the frame by means of a 'back door' in the mount. ;)

How big is the little homer?

    Hi Minigeff

Beautiful workmanship, what's the possibility of a run? Can I ask if this would fit into a Gillette Razor handle? I know the razor needs to be modified but just wndering post mod if your mini homer would fit?

    Hi GM,

Not sure about the little homer fitting inside a gillette.

The possibility of a run of these is extremely slim. The issue being that the little homer took around 20 hours or so (approx) to make. With the spring loaded action, assembly, the separate parts to make and then the tiny grooves to do, it takes ages to make one.

To put you in the picture, the grooves alone take 3 hours to machine in, due to the small size of the tools used, feed rates are incredibly low to avoid breaking the bit.

It dawned on me, some people may be raising a moore-esque eyebrow to the price which is down to the time taken to do the research, the high machining time, and the exclusivity of the item. Hope this explains things a little if anyone is curious about the price tag.

Anyways, cheers for the compliments GM.

The original little homer did not fit inside the Gillete. In the movie, Connery palmed the homer when he uncrewed the Gillette. So if MG measured it approx to the movie, his prop would also not fit. MG?

Also if you get the Gillette, the base does not screw off - the movie Gillette was modified to allow it to unscrew.

The machining looks FANTASTIC, MG. Wish I had the spare change right now.

Yeah I was aware of that and I have a Gillette Slim. I was thinking of modding the razor, but looking closlely at the drawing measurements it still wouldn't fit, I may just go for the shoe heel mount instead.

Can I just add, there are only four of these, and I have two of them, in the past I have seen the Italian one, and the one king ego cast from the Italian one, the one MG made is NOT in the same league, this is a work of art gentlemen :007)

    Morning guys,

Well as far as the size of the homing dvice go, I took measurements from screen shots, and did alot of research on the net to find some reference to how big the little blighter is.

Of course, its quite common knowledge that the originals have long disappeared somewhere, so even access to the archive would prove fruitless.

As far as it fitting inside a razor, well I doubt its as you see it on screen. Think its another case of it looking so simple on screen, and then trying to make it happen in 'real life' as it were throws up all kinda of complications. Another example of this would be the credit card lock pick from TWINE. Looks great on film, but anyone who's seen the back of that card will understand when i say its not at all what you'd imagine it to look like.

I guess with a quick hand and maybe a few lighting techniques thrown in, you can pull of all kind of tricks, and sometimes what you see on screen is more like what you want to see, not what is actually happening.
