I will let you choose

Hi,

It comes down to this. I either buy 2 QoS ties or the Golden Gun SE version. I will let the people decide what I should do. Please give a reason to your argument, because it will be invalided. I want to make a wise choice. I will take the majority or the best arguments decide, unless, of course, I decide to choose the other option.

I put it here because it's not in the serious topic of the Merchandise threads.

Think pleasure, value over time, resell short time value, etc.

Love,
Toutbrun

I'm not familiar with QoS ties. What are they?
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

Sorry toutbrun, my argument couldn't get out of its wheelchair today. :(

295 US dollar ties worn by DC in QoS and sold by Tom Ford.

    Thanks for trying Napoleon.

I think it all depends on what your immediate goal is with the purchase and then, factoring that in--look long term.

Example: Do you want the ties to "dress like Bond?" or, are they for display only? If the former---buy the ties since you'll be a lot sharper wearing nice designer Bond ties and living the lifestyle than you would in most circumstances carrying around a Golden Gun, which, outside of Bond parties or Collector's weekend will just not be cool, as Joe Public won't know your intent, and even nonfiring, you'd be brandishing a replica pistol about.

If a nice display piece is what you seek--the GG is the answer.

Then, your long term plan---have a collectable that will hopefully appreciate (The SD GG's seems to increase nicely in value) or a designer tie, that even though in a Bond film, will not appreciate as much and soon be the topic of an old post as new films come out and new ties, suits, sweaters make the scene.

The end result is up to you, but hope this adds some food for thought.

I'm not convinced the price of the TF ties are justified by the production quality (basically made by Zegna, unclear even if they are seven fold ties) and the uniqueness of the design (basic muted patterns you typically see in department store racks). I'm sure it's a nice quality tie, but I'm not convinced it's worth as much as TF is charging for it... even for an item with a connection to a Bond movie.

in my mind, think what you're paying for.

i'd say theres a lot more time, effort and care gone into (or i'd like to think so anyways) making the golden gun.

for your money, the golden gun wins every time in my mind, plus its a more interesting piece. everyone recognises the golden gun too, where as the ties would only be normially recognised by bond fans.

saying all that though, the gg isn't even available yet and things have gone suspiciously quiet......

Does the Golden Gun come apart? That would make the deciding factor easier: two ties vs. one pen, lighter, cufflink, and cigarette case combo. I'd go with the gun if it came in those parts. :D

How much do they go for?

Do you really think that the new version will increase in value? Maybe everyone will start making their run now! We're safe with the SE because they are hand(?)signed by the 2 co-stars, but still...

And I guess that the ties are nice and you may do some money if you want to sell them, but they're just ties...

To be honest I dont know how much they go for at the moment, but I paid $2500 with out a box, but worth every penny, the first generations were the only only licensed GG, and are the only ones with the license markings.

The new one is sure to rise in value, due to the small number being made :D.

    I use to collect clothing as well, but it depends if you want a prop or a tie lol, I know what id go for. -{
