Sunspel

The Mail on Sunday's 'Live' magazine which had a feature on QoS before it's release had an article on clothing this weekend of which they mentioned the Sunspel 'Riviera' polo shirt.

It was written that Sean Connery wore Sunspel polo shirts in some of his Bond films, can anyone confirm or deny this please?

Also, the photo the featured was the one of DC running in the 'Perla de las Dunas' scene. It looks to me that the boots he's wearing in this photograph are not the dark brown Church's Ryder 3 as the soles are wider & lighter coloured as well as the suede.

Any ideas on this would be great thanks.

It wouldnt surprise me if the mail were wrong on the details, that is a daily occurrence. 8-)

I'd be skeptical of that. Sunspel seem to be quite proud of their association with previous films and other iconic media (like the 80's Levi's commercials), so it seems like they would be the first to mention they had supplied the Connery polos if they had done so.

I noticed they've taken the article off their website that states an association with QoS.

That was a mistake, from what I understand. (They supplied polos to the production and assumed they were being used, but it turns out Tom Ford was copying the design)

    OK, Sunspel have confirmed....
the statement "Sunspel's 007 Riviera polo shirt was the one worn by Sean Connery in the very early films" is NOT correct.
the statement "When the wardrobe researchers were coming up with a wardrobe for Daniel Craig's Bond they found that Sunspel had made the original and promptly commissioned a modern version." is NOT correct.
Don't believe everything you read in the "newspapers" :))
What IS true is that the material was developed by the previous owners back in the 50's and most was exported to the Italian Riviera - hence the name it now retails under.
2+2 does not equal 5!! Guess there might be more retractions.... 8-)

As regard the boots, I would have said they were Church's Ryder 3 as the photo does show the first round dimple of the tread pattern (but then it's not unique) and it was very dusty out there! Later images cetainly do confirm the boot, but in this shot you're dealing with dust, odd lighting And possible film re-colouring!

    Hope this helps?!
These days it takes three kills...!
