This is a post I have been wanting to write for years but have never gotten around too. Yes, it's brain picking time again.
Nearly 20 years ago I was poking around in a small second hand store with a friend and came across a set of three Japanese(?) swords. I bought them and took them home and have had them on display ever since.
Jump ahead to 2002 and I'm sitting in the cinema watching Die Another Day and had reached the point where Gustav Graves is berating his henchman Vladimir Popov about the ergonomics of his Icarus control panel, calling it "Just a suitcase." Vlad is standing beside him toying with a sword in his hands. imagine my suprise when I recognized it as the second in the set that I had at home. (Shoto - wakizashi, assuming they are japanese).
I nearly fell off my seat!! (instant Bond prop, no hunting involved )
I have always wondered as to the origin of these swords and if they are in fact Japanese at all. The swords have markings on the blades but i don't know their meaning or origin. I have taken pictures of the wakizashi sword. (see below) in case anyone (Ed??) can supply any info about them or if they want to go sword hunting themselves. I would really appreciate any feedback at all. thanks for looking.

Any idea what the markings mean? Made in China )
To be honest, it looks arabic. It might well have been made in India or more likely Pakistan. Alot of copies are made there too.
