  Interesting, I saw this same jacket at my local Savers thrift store, but I didn't buy it because of the Epaulettes.

  There are cheap copies of this jacket doing the rounds (which I suspect you saw in your "local Savers thrift store") but this is an original RAF issue jacket.
  
  I personally think the epaulettes look great - but that is, of course, a matter of personal taste.

  I went into the Gap the other day and I always found the khaki Barracuda jacket but never navy so I finally just asked the cashier to call up other locations to find a navy one in my size. They tracked one down in St. Louis and they shipped it to me for a total of $21 because they were all on clearance. Here it is:

  JD Sports are selling a classic Ben Sherman Harrington jacket - apart from have two buttons at the collar, it looks like a good alternative to the TF Harrington

  I'm in the market for a Harrington - I like the look of the one by Merc and the original G9 but the tartan lining isn't to my taste. Wish I could find one with a plain black lining.

  Been searching for ages, think im going to go Magnoli. Cuffs always seem elasticated on most of them and of course the tartan lining......

  I think Merc do one with black lining, but haven't been able to find a shop selling it. Still has the elasticated cuffs though. I agree, the Magnoli one is good albeit a little pricey. -{

  I have the Merc jacket. The lining was tartan so I purchased some plain navy silk material and had the original lining replaced.
  All in all its not bad,..but not perfect.

  VERY nice jacket, as Barracuta is high quality. I would recommend that over anything else. Not to mention that it's Made in England and less expensive than Magnoli's.

  I had The Barracuta one last year but I didn't like the elasticated wrist and waist band. I took delivery of the Banana Republic version which is an excellent alternative in my opinion.

  Oh forgot to add I'm not overly crazy about the tartan lining on the Barracuta and warrior versions.

  looked on the UK bannana republic and gap sites ( as that is where i am ) but cant see one ..
  might have to plug for the warrior one ...

  True, but when I can't get the actual genuine article I am prepared for small trade offs, in this case the colour. Apart from that, to me, it's my QoS Harrington.

  a few more alternatives here .. if i could ask for the peoples opinion as to which is the closest to the genuine article please ( ignoring the tartan as it seems difficult to avoid )

  jon I have the Marks & Spencer version and because of the collars I consider it my replica for the Y3 jacket. It is a lovely jacket though.
  
  I tried on the Ben Sherman jacket and of the elasticated waist versions that was my favourite but I couldnt get it in my size. Oh and that is a very good price as well. John Lewis were selling it for about £70.
  
  I like the look of the River Island jacket, never saw that, very nice.
  
  I wouldn't consider the others. Oh and Burton do one but it has a very cheap feel about it.

  I have 2 of them A black Ralph Lauren and Lands end canvas blue one. Both are very nice and excellent, the Lands End is a great value

  I found a great alternative by Ralph Lauren. Not a Harrington jacket but a very nice equivalent.

  Apparantly it's know as the Ralph Lauren Stratford Windbreaker. Despite the name I can promise you it does not look too shiny or plastic (pic attatched of mine for verification).
