Celebrity Sightings

I just had my first Bond sighting !!! -{ B-) About 3 hours ago I was at Ralph's ( my local grocery store ) on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, Ca., when, as I was wrestling my 4 year old daughter into my shopping cart for our weekly grocery shopping, I glanced up- and standing there five feet away from me in the 15 items or less aisle was Timothy Dalton !!!!!!! -{ :o B-) :007) We met eyes very briefly ( I looked away with my best poker face - trying not to disturb his privacy- or more importantly not make an ass of myself ;% ). But how cool is that ?!? He looked fantastic. Very cool, very....I don't know....Bondian....standing there in the check out aisle. I usually am not too taken aback by celebs, nor would I even feel the need to post this kinda thing......but, come on - this is Mr. Bond we're talking about. This would have to be the most surreal thing since I saw Michael Corleone at Target ( true story..... :)) B-) ) {[]

But doesn't seeing you count as a celebrity sighting, AL?

:)) :)) Somehow, I don't think Mr. Dalton was quite as nervous as I was in this situation..... :D {[]

I'm afraid if I ever met a nice celebrity, I'd be so star struck, I'd make a fool of myself. I met Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs when I was 13. Maxwell street in Illinois, in a purse vendors stall, I complimented her bag, "Your purse is so nice!" To which the bitch replied, "I know."
    "I admire your luck..."

That's really cool & he's my favourite Bond too.

Reminds me a bit of this similar sighting of him at an off-license around 6yrs ago. http://www.mi6.co.uk/news/index.php?itemid=1886&t=mi6&s=news

I'm jealous. That's so cool you were within five feet of Timothy Dalton. I've only been in the company of a few sports celebrities and one comedy actor. Maybe one day a Bond actor will make his (or her) way into the grocery store I work for.
Some people would complain even if you hang them with a new rope

:o wow. that's so so so cool!

I've had my fair share of celeb sightings, but not quite as cool as that!!!

walked by and waved at Johnny Depp at an Italian place on a local mall. he waved back.

literally almost ran into Mathew Broderick in Denver once. I was texting and he was stopped dead in the middle of the sidewalk.

was back to back with Robert Plant at a liquor store once. didn't realize it until he spoke. I almost fainted.

and a few others with bands <3

    A.L.,

I'm afraid I would have said something to TD, but no doubt you'll see him at Ralph's again. Just remember the day of the week and the time, even celeb's are creatures of habit.

I've had the good fortune to see John Huston and speak with John Milius. Huston was too intimidating (I was only 17 at the time) , but Milius was a good sport and we had a brief and interesting conversation.

If I could see a live JB actor, TD would be top of my list!!!

That is one of those moments you will always remember..... will you ever regret not saying anything? I don't know if I could be so restrained, although I understand the 'respecting his privacy' - you almost want him to know, that you know who he is, but being cool enough not to say anything.... B-)

    A great sighting indeed -{

I totally know what you mean about saying something...ANYTHING....to him. God knows I wanted to, but somehow it just didn't seem right, he was just at the store minding his own business....plus, I really didn't know what to say. And you're right, the best thing to do is usually acknowledge them ( the super cool celeb) with some sort of covert head nod or eye contact and let nothing else be said. I've had that experience several times with people that I admire. Like you said - they know you know, and you know they know you know,....you know? :)) 8-)

But, I also learned a valuable lessen on two different occasions when meeting heroes of mine. Twice I have met an icon that totally turned me into a trembling teenage girl :)) ;% I mean where I spoke to them....without really even knowing what I was saying and probably, I'm sure, sounded like a complete blithering idiot. One was Jimmy Page, who very graciously somehow kept from laughing at me and totally treated me with respect. And the other was Michael Palin. Who was sooooooo sweet and generous to me that I actually was put at ease by his presence......But, after that, I vowed that since twice I had gotten away with being an imbecile...( because, let's face it....they could have been rude.....that would have KILLED me....) that I would never say something to a hero unless I actually had something intelligent or at least worth their while to hear. So, it's kind of a rule with me.......If there is a chance that a hero of mine could really be put off by me, I'm not gonna risk speaking to them....unless there is something that I feel I really, REALLY have to say. Because for instance I have oddly run into Harrison Ford on several occasions, and have never spoken to him. Because frankly, my fragile little ego couldn't take being told to "piss off" by Indiana Jones :)) :)) ;%

Wow, that's a cool picture. But, it's interesting.....yesterday he looked a lot more trim and fit, clean shaven, put together -even younger and generally more "Bondish" than this shot. He really looked great yesterday....Just like a slightly older version of the Bond that we know. He is probably in town shooting something. And he probably has had to work out and look good for whatever it is..... B-)

The list of people you've seen, talked to (and not talked to :D ) absolutely boggles my mind...you held the door open for the Dalai Lama once, yes?

The list of people you've seen, talked to (and not talked to :D ) absolutely boggles my mind...you held the door open for the Dalai Lama once, yes?

Yep !!! :o B-) That was while I still had my day job at The Art Institute of Chicago. I was in visitor services.....Which meant I dealt with EVERYONE that came into that world class museum. The good, the bad and the Dalai !!!! :)) Yes. One afternoon I was hustled from my post at the information desk on the museum's Columbus Dr. Entrance by some "secret service" like dudes. I was frisked, and told, "Stand right here. Hold this door open. And do not speak." As I stood there, a car pulled up....and out came The Man. As he passed by my friend Terry -who was on the other door- and myself ,he stopped and very slowly, and precisely bowed to each of us in turn with the warmest smile I think I've ever seen on a human being. That was an incredible moment. He made very close eye contact with each of us as way of "thanks" and grinned.....as we both clumsily returned the bow. Amazing. I could just sense that this is one amazingly cool dude.... you know? B-) Unforgettable.

That was an amazing job. I met more of the "fame'os" there than I ever have in my acting career ... ;) The list is staggering...from Oprah, both Bill and Hillary,JFK Jr, and Tom Brokaw.....to Elvis Costello, Aretha Franklin, Kevin Costner, ....to... I dunno ...Emo Phillips !!!! And all stops in between.. :D :)) ( What a name dropper I am in this thread !!!!! :)) 8-) ;% ) Seriously, between that and when I bartended out here in L.A. ( I once worked the Emmy's... B-) ) I think I've seen them all....It's funny how I'm still a star struck dweeb. :)) But the point is....as a confirmed Bond Geek....There is no one cooler for me than someone who has played that role. :007) Imagine what a mess I would be if I met Connery... ;)

Yes, if I EVER meet Daniel Craig I would like to be restrained enough to be this cool - if I was snubbed by him, my total hero, I would be totally gutted..... :(

A bit off topic, BUT my grandmother sat next to Palin on a train from London to Cornwall - and like you said, was apparently the most delightful companion - apparently he even offered to share his sandwiches with her B-) She remembered this journey with great fondness - and it just goes to show that there are some celebs out there who are just as lovely as they seem on TV :D

my wife was at work at the local beach when a man came in to pay to park, she had no idea who he was but said he was very charming and made her blush, he had a nice car she said. It was not until we watched Casino Royale that she said that was the man there and pointed to Daniel Craig, but now of course she knows who he is and goes on and on about the day she met him.

He is in the middle of filming 'The Tourist' at the moment, until around May.

Found these shots of him on location in Venice last month.
