If I was good enough to build it, I would. I think I should just wait until someone builds it and buy it ;)

    75 installments are definitely painful

Beautiful model! I mean stunning!! But 350 parts over a period of 75 weeks? Patience is a virtue, and I'm definitely a patient guy, but that's really pushing it. (not to mention the cost of about $800)

First of all, looks like this may be also available in South Africa, NZ and Australia, as the inside cover preview of the magazine has subscription details for these countries too. This is tempting, but might be one collectible I have to knock back.

75 weeks is a lot, and at roughly AU$15 a pop, too much for me (AU$1125 total). Love the detail though, with the gadgets, and lights. I get the feeling if I attempted to build this, I would break a part knowing my luck, and also I don't think I have anywhere to display it.

You could use a service i.e. in Australia to have the magazines sent there and they can send them back to you afterwards - i.e. 10 at a times.

It looks to be about the same size as Corgi's proposed large scale Bond DB5 (their prototype was displayed at BondStar's Goldfinger event), but just imagine the size of the issue that contains the body. Did anyone spot the ejector seat hatch? Couldn't see it myself - and that was one of the problems Corgi was having.
  • cris_19010689cris_19010689 Posts: 138MI6 Agent
It is an interesting prospect that's for sure. Went into my 3 local newsagents today to have a look to see if the quality of it was worth having and none of them had the first issue in. Has it actually been released yet? :#
If i got it, my post lady would have a cow when the body was delivered - she complains about the number of "packages" i get aready (in fairness though, most of them are the fault of James Bond!!)

And mark, http://www.007db5.com/instructions.asp - the edjector seat hatch is shown on the top of the first "blueprint" {[]

haha issues 69 and 75 will contain the car body...clever marketing ploy there
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
    look at it this way, £6.99 x 75 issues = £524.25

    thats £524.25 for a model you;

    a) don't know what the final finish will be like
    b) have no idea how well it will go together
    c) can't even start to build before you've collected the whole 75 issues (its curtains if the publisher goes pop before the end)
    d) has inaccuracies in it already

ok, so if you compare it with a firm like amalgam, its a damn sight cheaper, but from the publicity shots, the budget shows through. sorry to sound like a complete arse, but i personally can't stand these subscription things. once you start collecting, you're stuck in it. if the publishers decide to extend the run of issues, like GE Fabbri have with the JBCC, then you have no choice but to keep coughing up and spending more and more money on it. Its either you keep buying, or end up with a load of parts you can't put together.

now if the model kit was available without all the magazine crap, and you could buy it outright, or pay in instalments, then i'd be interested.

tied into a subscription deal however, i feel it just way to much of a gamble to take.

Look mate I was only tring to get my work out there, its hard enough as it is trying to make it with out idiots like your self making childish remarks. Bit sad really, I am not doing any harm with these posts, so little comments from you are pointless.
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
yeah its hard getting work out there etc etc, but what you've got to realise is that a forum has these kinda rules.

one that i can't stand being ignored is spamming up threads with irrelevent off topic stuff, its bloody annoying. whats made it worse is that you've simply copied and pasted the same crap into several threads.

we all welcome new people on here, but why not simply start your own thread instead of gatecrashing a load of others?

I'm with minigeff, this has nothing to do with the topic discussed and is a blatant attempt to sell your goods. That;s fine if you make your own thread for it, but I don't want to see the same copy & paste message over and over in topics discussing other things. You are not contributing anything to the community by blatant spamming, and won't win anyone around by doing so. A nice thread and an introduction to your work would have been nice, but these spam posts are lazy, rude and annoying advertising. And being rude to people who mentioned it in a friendly way just makes your position worse and even more annoying.

right, child, when did i ever say 'yo $hit' was crap? i haven't. as it stands, your art isn't my kind of bag, baby, but i wish you well in your attempts at flogging it.

also as it stands, my talent doesn't lie in painting pretty pictures, and if you're capable of producing nice artwork, then please, go right ahead and stun us to high hell and back with it, in your own thread.

another idea you might want to run through your skull would be using a little tact. you're here trying to sell your art, and acting like a child. even if i was interested in your art, you acting like a dick would put me off from the word go.

lastly, i don't 'diss yo $hit', bro, i'm old enough to use this language called english. i don't claim to be, or talk like, a gang star.

i think in your situation, its literally back to the drawing board. come back when your balls have dropped and your brain can think a little further than the end of your ****, kidda.

now can we please all get back to the topic please peoples?

(cheers for the backup asp & danjaq)

Has anybody discovered what the body is made of yet?, if it's diecast I'm in, if plastic, styrene then not a hope. The chances of warping are too great given the size of it.

    Hi Guys,
I rang my local newsagent this morning regarding ordering this new part-work of the model 1:8th scale Aston Martin DB5 and he has told me that at the moment it is on "test" for 5 or 6 issues up in Dundee, Scotland. If there is a wider interest then I would imagine it will be released all over the country - so I will just have to wait for more info...

I suppose it wouldn't hurt subscribing to it on the internet!

    :#
  • minigeffminigeff EnglandPosts: 7,884MI6 Agent
i'd like to imagine its diecast GM, but the carriage on a shell that size is gonna be costly.

i understand your concerns if its styrene, and unless GE Fabbri package these mags up properly, we're gonna see alot of returns. the other concern for me is the fact that the majority of the parts simply snap together. from experience, the tolerances on the parts are quite large in 'snap kits', and panel lines and seams always seem to be a little on the large side.
