Who would Bond vote for?

With just over a day before us brits head to the poling stations up and down the country I was wondering what anyone thought on the subject of bonds political views?
As far as the Fleming novels are concerned, I would guess his allegiance is with the Tories but who would the modern 21st century DC bond vote for?
Bond servers ‘for Queen and country ‘’, does he have his own views or is he simply a mercenary?

I couldn't imagine Bond voting anything other than Conservative. If you take into account his background history, especially the literary Bond. Also, I imagine Fleming was a Tory. His views of the time, his lifestyle.
The boundaries of the political parties have become very blurred in recent years, and many people who live oppulant and excesive lifestyles vote Labour now, whereas this was always unthinkable to a Labour voter of old and always the territory of the Conservatives.

Does Bond not wear a lot of blue ties in recent movies? :))

Well we know he doesn't pay taxes, I'd imagine he doesn't vote at all. I think it would be beyond him.

I don't think Fleming's Bond mentions politics really, it's all just Cold War stuff. I suppose he'd approve of the Tory association with Christine Keeler, but Connery's Bond in Goldfinger obviously against the old duffer brigade.

He'd vote for Nick Clegg because his wife is fit - as I intend to do. :D

I suspect that being a serving member of HM forces, he is not aloud to vote. But if he could, then it would more than likely be conservative.

Members of HM Forces are allowed to vote as are members of the Intelligence and Security services, the police and other law enforcement agencies in the UK.

Fleming himself, in the 1964 Playboy interview, said that he imagined that Bond's politics would be "slightly left of center." In one of the stories, Bond expresses an element of sympathy for revolutionaries in places like Cuba. Interesting.

That is interesting. At least in those days politics were as clear as lines down a road and you just chose which side you wanted to lean towards. As I sit here watching the news and the results of our election unfold, it is pretty clear that we are in a dithering mess...

Finally, someone does some investigation. I would imagine he would be "slightly left of center" indeed. However, comparing that Bond to the Bond of Sebastian Faulk in Devil May Care is kind of interesting. Bond almost comes off like a nostalgic prude when he sees the hipsters in London and views them with disdain as he drives along. Anyone else remember that scene? That type of Bond would be more likely to wish for the London of old and vote more conservative I'd say!

In his interview in Playboy Fleming described Bond as being "left of centre" . Being from Scotland he probably would have voted Lib-Dem. However, to describe some one as "left of centre" in 60s could not translate well today.

The stories were "Quantum of Solace" and "For Your Eyes Only". A lot of people were sympathetic to Cuban revolutionaries in the mid 50s before Castro revealed his true nature.

Ironic...as the world now gears up for a massive economic and political upheaval, those engineering it are the beneficiaries of similar sympathy. The "true nature" reveal is coming...'change' indeed :#

Thanks, perdogg...I knew it had appeared in the short stories, but was drawing a blank...
