You're right. It's a bit of a gamble but I did have accurate measurements taken from a tailor. I guess we'll see!

Hope your suits work out well and they're exactly what you were hoping for! You will have to let us know when they arrive and how they turned out.

    Hi Kevin

Karol seems to be getting very positive responses from the few who have tried them so far. I will be very interested to know what you think once you get your suits. I am really keen to see the work coming from this new source, so photos would really be appreciated.

The first link doesn't work for me so I can't see the front details.

Did you request a center vent on the back? Should have side vents to be accurate.

His prices are good but there are some pretty glaring mistakes. The vent situation plus the collar on cpoulos62's overcoat call the maker's eye for detail into question.

    How does the suit fit/feel?
  • CedCed FrancePosts: 43MI6 Agent
I request a center vent because my body.He really made a good job.Suit fit perfect.I bought also a overcoat from this seller and I am more than happy.:D

No disrespect to any of the retailers mentioned - I have never dealt with any of them. However,

    1) If you are going for tailored clothing, - actually visit a Tailor in person. If you want a good fit, they have to do a fitting.

    2) You get what you pay for. If you want to try to emulate Bond in painful detail, - set up a bank account as a wardrobe fund, that you can build up over time. You can't get bespoke for nothing. - Some tailors will offer fantastic rates, it comes down to doing research. - I have mentioned King and Allen as a fantastic option for UK Bond fans who want the bespoke treatment at a good price.

With other items like woollens or ties, you may find something similar in style and colour to the originals at a much better price.

    3) Contain expectations. My dinner suit was based on Casino Royale, but I knew it would not be exact to the Brioni's that Mr Craig wore. - I was rewarded for my caution, I realised my dinner suit was as close to Bond as I would get, - but it was MY take on Bond. That has made it more special and personal to me.

Ced - your last comment re Vents reflects this thinking. Well done! ;)

    4) Be flexible. Sometimes it is almost impossible to find exact matches for colours / fabrics, buttons etc. Along the lines of 3), find the best match to make yourself happy. (One of Mantis's' excellent pod-cast's highlights this in detail, showing that even copies from other retailers can be hard to tell from Tom Ford etc).

It may be a fabrication of Bond, but it doesn't have to be 100% exact, infuse it with an element unique to you.

In the end what you wear makes you feel great, you are happy with the pricing and the fit, and that your appearance fits into Bond's world, then job done. :007)

I'm just curious, did Craig button all 5 buttons on the sleeves? Is there a rule regarding this?

    Thanks

He does because it's TF style. It's called surgeon's cuff.

Indeed... I would have been most surprised if he didn't... so much for the "TF style"...

Usually, people who have surgeon's cuffs on their suits like to leave at least one of the buttons undone deliberately. It's a subtle way of showing off that your suit is well-made and high quality, since the off-the-rack suits that most people wear do not have functional cuffs.

In Casino Royale, if you look closely during the scene where Bond inspects the equipment inside his Aston Martin DBS, you'll see that he's undone the last button on the surgeon's cuffs of his Brioni suit.

    Gentlemen!

My 3 shirts arrived today. I can report that Karol's (karolsemra@gmail.com) work is beyond what I expected.
The attention to detail, the friendly emails to make sure every detail I asked for was correct. An added bonus were the monogram on the cuffs. I have already planned a pea coat and a couple other items for Karol to make. Please do yourself a favor and hire this fine tailor.

    Hi Kevin

Thanks for the comments on the shirts. Glad to hear you had a positive experience. How is the fabric? I dont imagine you know yet if there is any shrinkage after they are washed? How about ironing - is it ok? Any chance of photos?

I have found Karol very accommodating in discussions I have had over the last few days, and am just in the process of ordering a QoS suit. If it goes well, I will be getting more items of clothing soon.

Nice work - I noticed it in QoS when they're in the cab going to the hotel - bottom button undone. Think i'll have to start doing that now...

And my CR three piece is great - had to have the arms lengthened a bit but that was it. Ordered the QoS suit now...
