Hello all,

Has anyone heard anything about the nine remaining films that are awaiting a Blu Ray release?

I hope that MGM's money problems are not holding up their being released to retail.

I've heard nothing about the remaining 9 movies but seeing as the deluxe edition of Quantum of Solace is being released this summer, I'm hopeful we'll get some news by the fall.

Despite MGM's ongoing woes, their movies are being released by multiple sources. Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western trilogy is coming out during the summer and the sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet is being released via Warner Bros. in September.

So hopefully the remaining Bond movies will not remain in limbo forever.

I've been really looking forward to Goldeneye, the living day lights, the spy who loved me, and on her majesties secret service in perticular, in blu-ray, they happen to be in my top ten bond movies , I've been painfully waiting for them too, hopefully we get some news, and MGMs problems get solved soon :)

Even thought I don't own a Blu ray DVD player, I have read many good things about the format. It seems to me that Blu Ray is set to surpass DVD in five to ten years.

I agree that with a new QOS DVD on the way, it looks likely that the other nine films have a good chance of being released as well.

It's got to be because of the problems with the existing UE DVDs. OHMSS, TSWLM, and GE were some of the most problematic. Others with problems have been corrected for their blu releases so hopefully the studio has gone back and fixed the color changes and cropping issues.

I would hope that is the case, and not MGM's money troubles. Most of the other major studios are still putting out Blu Rays, and I would think that MGM would welcome some profits from rentals and sales of their films, even if they are smaller than those seen prior to the financial fallout in the US. May be some light will be shed on this next month when, MGM's credit extension ends.

...and it's Bond for crying out loud. It's not like it won't make profit right?

I would imagine that when compared to most of the other titles in MGM's library the Bond films, tend to sell more units of DVD's than any others. It would be nice to have them come out soon, since not a lot is going on for the franchise at the moment other than the new Goldeneye video game for the Nintendo Wii, and the new novel will not be out until next year.

This is an important topic, and I am worried that the remaining films will not be released on Blu-Ray for several years due to MGM's financial problems and near bankruptcy. I would like to see You Only Live Twice and The Spy Who Loved Me on Blu-Ray.

That's what I was afraid of, but new MGM titles keep appearing in the release calendars. Since these are Bond titles and the other Blus have sold very well I don't think that they will be indefinitely postponed. I just hope that all of the errors are corrected. YOLT needs its color back and Spy needs both a better transfer and original audio.

Wait a sec... There's a new QoS edition coming? DETAILS, please! I haven't seen anything anywhere!

Alas things have become murky on this title as well. MGM Home Entertainment was to release Quantum of Solace: The Definitive Edition on July 28. Unfortunately while several sites including highdefdigest.com still list the title, other sources say it has been canceled or at best indefinitely shelved and there is no longer any trace of it at amazon.com.

I'm doubly PO'd because I sold my standard def Bond DVDs after the first batch of Bond BluRays was released as I foolishly believed the remainder would be released in short order. As of right now there is no info on this or any other Bond BluRay. Hopefully once the who MGM mess is cleared up the BluRays will begin to flow again.

    Hello

I'm getting a Blu-Ray player next week. Would someone please be kind enough to tell me if the extras on the Bond discs are the same as on the Ultimate DVD, or are there 'extra' extras? Also HMV is selling the discs, apart from CR special edition and QOS, for £6.00 each including delivery. I'm wondering if they are shifting stock to accommodate a forthcoming Ultimate Edition, or something along those lines. If anyone has heard of any such plans I would appreciate the tip-off. I have already bought the bond films three times (VHS, Speciial Edition DVD, Ultimate Edition DVD), and don't really fancy shelling out again for two sets of Blu-Ray editions.

    Many thanks

As far as I know the Blu Ray extras are the same as the Ultimate Edition. However their is presently a three disc collectors version of Casino Royale that came out in 2008, that more features than the Blu Ray does. I know this for a fact since I own a copy and have checked the back of the Blu Ray case in a store once. Does this help?

The Connery/Moore/Dalton/Brosnan movies that are available on BluRay have the exact same extras as the Ultimate Edition features so the only reason for picking them up would be the improved picture and sound quality that BluRay will provide if you have a hi-def TV and good surround sound system to take advantage of it.

I've not heard anything at all for months about the release of the remaining movies or any re-release of the ones already available. Don't know if its tied into the MGM woes but no one seems to be stepping forward to release the remaining movies on BluRay and even the all but confirmed QoS Special Edition BluRay appears to have been cancelled.

I'm fairly certain that the reason the price on the BluRays is so low is because they have been available for well over a year now; they've simply reached the point in their shelf-life where they can be discounted because anyone who would have bought them at full price probably already has done so by now.

Thanks to everybody who posted in response to my question. I'm picking up my blu-ray home cinema kit tomorrow evening, and Casino Royale is top of my list. Hopefully the QOS definitive edition will be released soon.

With Bond 23 having a release to the general public at last, I would imagine that MGM will start cranking merchandise, including Blu Rays soon.
