Golden Gun Update

I've just had an email from Factory Entertainment.

Pre-ordering of the both editions of the Golden Gun will commence on 18th June.

Price will be $449 for the LE Edition ($150 deposit required) and limited to 1000 pieces.

Price will be $649 for the SE Edition ($260 deposit required) and limited to 400 pieces.

Will be delivered during September 2010.

Much cheaper than I had expected - this is fantastic news. My order will be placed accordingly.

Andy.

Shame. I hoped (but didn't think, to be honest) that it would be cheaper than this. I'll have to pass on this wonderful item, unfortunately. Hopefully the Jaws teeth and / or the tarot cards will be cheaper.

Still no pictures!!!!!!! Are we supposed to buy something we haven't even seen from a company who hasn't built up a repuation yet. So far we have no idea of the quality of the product or materials used, or in fact anything. Poor show.

Just curious as to what the difference will be between the LE and SE editions. Does anyone have any information they can share? Thanks!

I can agree with your sentiment Asp, but would this not have been the same position with SD Studios when they did theirs?? That's a genuine question by the way, not meant to be a flippant remark.

I think The Mantis (who I have seen in a pair of swimming shorts thanks to the internet!!) has an involvement in this project so maybe he will be able to allay any fears.

The SE is signed by Sir Roger Moore and Christopher Lee - that appears to be the only difference.

My question is, how would one go about getting one of these sent to Australia? I don't know a lot about gun importing laws here, but I am worried if the gun comes assembled, it would be swiftly seized by customs and I would be $500 out of pocket.

I too would have liked some more info or pics. Im hoping that they will be available when the gates open on friday. Though it would be nice to see something beforehand......

I must admit it's strange for them not to show any pictures, but I don't know.. I'm sure it's going to be good, and it's signed by the two actors... I mean... I was thinking about buying two, since they might increase in value (?)

    Hello Everybody,

Just to clear up any confusion. The email sent out today has only gone to a select group of people who registered interest in obtaining the first news regarding the Golden Gun pre-order.... its a small exclusive group and as promised we are informing them first to give them a slight edge on the rest of the buying public. The intention was to keep things a little mysterious and low key in order to not create too much hype in advance of Friday over a very limited item which is certain to be oversubscribed once we start shouting about it... which come this Friday we will. Until then shhhhhhh (/s)

When the pre-ordering opens on Friday there will be a wealth of images, full specifications and information to look at on our site.

If you have any specific questions I will be happy to try and answer them here. In regards to the questions we have seen so far:

    - Materials. The replicas are 100% metal construction, a mixture of machined aluminum, brass and alloy depending on the component. Each component has then been gold plated in 18ct gold. Only the bullet is a resin dummy, to avoid any potential import issues. Metal bullets, even replicas, tend to cause something of a panic!

    - Shipping. We will be offering this item worldwide. It will be shipped disassembled in its component form. Buyers are responsible for ensuring the legality of importing it into their territory. It is not possible for us to comment on the policies of individual countries governments or advise if the item will be permitted in your location. However we tried very hard to take every step to try and ensure that the replica can be enjoyed by the widest possible worldwide audience. If in any doubt you should contact the relevant authority in your area. The item is a non-functioning replica of a fantasy weapon and will only be supplied to, and is only intended for persons aged over 18 years of age

-Differences. There is no difference between the replicas in the SE and LE versions. The only differences are of course the signature plaque itself, and then the prop story booklet and COA etc. The actual 'guns' are the same on both replicas.

Enclosed is a copy of the image from the bottom of the email which is of an actual production replica.

    More images will follow

An AJB Exclusive --- All of our wave I items will also be available for pre-order this Friday also. The Jaws Teeth and Tarot Cards

    Regards

OK now that word is out there, on here, on MI6.co.uk and elswhere and every man and his dog knows about the pre order date, can I please ask Factory Q-Branch if those who are in the 'select group' and that you have full records of are guaranteed to be able to order, in the highly likely (in my opinion) event of the website crashing at Bond Hour + 5 minutes. I think we all know that this is going to be massively oversubscribed and it is my hope that those of us that are part of the 'select group' will be looked after and hopefully looked after by way of guaranteed purchase ability (subject to funds transfer, obviously) and low issue numbers. I've been on this from day one and would hate to lose out due to technical faults or a poor ordering system. Please get back to us true fans, I'm worried.

Glad you like what you see :-)

Rest assured we are doing everything we can to ensure that our site can cope with the influx on Friday. Obviously nobody can assure zero 'issues' when the internet is involved, but we have all the relevant technical steps in place and everything has been thoroughly tested in advance. Our e-commerce platform is hosted by major player who also handles customers such as Disney, 3M and Motorola.

A suggestion would be to set up an account with us today/in advance of Friday. This will save you some time at checkout on Friday as you won't have to register, you can simply login as a returning customer https://www.factoryentstore.com/AccountSettings.asp?AddNewCustomer=Y

Please understand that we only guaranteed wait list members that they would receive advance news of the pre-order opening. We did not promise to guarantee an order if you joined the list. Its simply impossible to do that as we have no way of sorting genuine inquiries from speculative ones until the pre-order actually opens and people commit. Nobody has a confirmed pre-order until they actually 'check out' and receive a confirmation code from us which they will receive in an email as soon as their order is complete. Nobody can order until 8 am PST (4pm UK time) this Friday.

If its any comfort our prior experience of pre-orders with other collectible companies was that less than 20% of people who registered interest on lists actually completed a pre-order when the time came.

If you get stuck, or have any issues, call us or email us. We will have staff standing by.

We will do everything we can to ensure that genuine fans and those people who registered prior interest get the item/s that they want. We will not be supplying the SE version to wholesale customers or resellers and will reject any bulk orders, or orders that are suspicious/odd. We have also imposed a limit of 2 per customer. But please understand that the SE version is a highly limited item, there are only 400 and in all likelihood demand will outstrip supply.

It should also be noted that all of our individually numbered items are numbered on the plaques only, which are sealed inside the packaging at random in the factory. There is no way to differentiate the actual edition number from the outside of the box/packaging. The only way to know the edition number you have is to open the item when you receive it. This is done deliberately to make the allocation of edition numbers completely random and thus totally fair. Items will be numbered sequentially in the 00X format, starting at 001. your order number/reference number, or the time/position you place you order will have no reflection on the edition number that you eventually receive.

    Hope that helps?

I should also add that FE are trying very hard to get me an early sample after Comic-Con so I can do a complete VIDEO review in beautiful HD. That should give everyone somenice, moving eye candy to chomp on.

Thanks FQB & Mantis, although I already have trust in the quality. I have, as per your suggestion, set up an account and will write up a review of the ordering process on Friday. I will be praying at the alter of Eon that all goes smoothly.

If the deposit is friday, when does the rest of the amount have to be paid?
  • Factory Q-BranchFactory Q-Branch Posts: 184MI6 Agent
Balances will be due when the item ships.

We will contact each pre-order customer directly approx 10 days prior to shipment arriving in our warehouse. We will then contact again directly a few days before shipment is due to leave notifying that we are about to charge the balance and ship, also to confirm that that everything is still OK and correct. (shipping address, cards not expired etc..)

Each customer will then receive an email with tracking information as soon as their package has been shipped

Factory Entertainment - for those of us without such deep pockets can you please adivse us on how much the Jaws Dentures and Solitaire Tarrot Cards are?

Are the Tarrot Cards a full deck that could be used to do a tarrot reading if one was inclined to do so, or is it a pack full of Lovers cards like in the film?

Also if one was inclined to do so could the Jaws Dentures be worn? And do they come with any additional booklets etc?

Also are they shipping in September?

Talking of Jaw's Teeth I had a Wisdom tooth out yesterday. :# Didn't use it as an excuse to kill a South African Diamond Smuggling Dentist with a Scorpion a la Wint and Kidd but the painkillers are wearing off now - so time to go and pop some pills!

In addition to the spare cufflink, extra bullets would also be good to allow the making of a Chungwha packet. Any thoughts FQB?

I know importing into UK from US on this type of value from experience will probably attract £100 import tax/duty - so our friendly Royal Mail will hold my new gun to ransom until I stump up.
