    Why would I be joking!!!

Do you know how it felt to spend about £1000.00 on an SD Studios replica only to find that a little later that they released a better one!!!

It's not like a car where you know its going to get upgraded. Its a prop that should be perfect first time. No excuses.

Why would I want to pay £300.00 this time to find that the lip on the gun is not exactly right or that there are errors in the book etc etc WHEN infact at some point I can pay the same and get a corrected version which would be better!!!

I am not having a go or in a strop - I really dont mind the faults as such.

I can very much live with them as long as all of a sudden FE don't turn around and say yup we have screwed up a bit here so infact we are releasing an improved one now.

Why would anyone want the initial version if they would plan on releasing a second more accurate version?

Not having a rant - I just don't want to settle for second best!!!

You paid £1000 for a 1st Gen SD GG, before they made the 2nd Gen ?, whoever sold you that must have been rubbing there hands together, the first Gen sold for $675.00, and the second sold for the same price with offer of a discount to first gen owners -{ :D 8-)

Hey - how about free FE 2nd Gen GG for all the 1st gen direct orders? That's a thought huh?

Sorry you are prob right - wasn't that much. I was actually one of the very first orders direct with SD Studios. I honestly can't remember the full cost but with postage (SD would only use DHL initially for international) and a hefty customs charge it wasn't cheap at all.

The point is though the cost doesn't matter.

When I buy something I expect it to be right the first time and certainly not released again by the exact same company but better.

It really should be spot on.

Would you honestly be happy if they turned around and said thanks for your purchase but now we are sold out we are delighted to confirm that a new run is being made but this one is ten times better!!!

well i don't think anyone wants second best to be fair.

it'd be interesting to see what other forum's members think of the golden gun.

anyone seen any comments on other sites?

EXACTLY - so if they plan on making a second generation which will be better who wants the initial version!!!

    That's exactly my point.

If FE turn around and say it was a one time run - we didn't get it spot on but that's as best we can do then great and fair enough.

BUT if they turn around and say we can do better so we are producing a nice new one which will be nicer then I would rather wait for that!

yeah but hold on a minute, where does it say that FE are doing a second generation golden gun?

It doesn't but people have mentioned it in this thread so I would like some clarity because I feel I was burned by SD Studios and don't want that again.

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that factory ent will never do a second generation golden gun. It was written by Barry somewhere in this thread if memory serves.

I may be mistaken but I'm sure I did read it.

    Golden Gun V2

Let me state categorically that there are no plans to produce a V2 Golden Gun replica.

Why would we? We are very pleased with the quality of our replica. We stand by our products and feel they are some of the best Bond replicas to hit the market at excellent prices. The majority of the customers who’ve received one or have actually experienced one in person have been very pleased.

If the gun you receive has a legitimate issue please contact us and we will do everything we can to solve the issue.

We would like to state publicly that so far we have received a very small number of complaints on the Golden Gun. Nothing like the number indicated here. These pieces are hand made and complex and this means realistically that there may be some issues that need addressing, but they have been minimal. If one was to read this forum you could be led to think that every single person who has received a gun is unhappy and this is simply not true. Additionally and quite worryingly some of the people posting here who are clearly very unhappy with their products have not even contacted us at all. If we do not know about your problem we cannot help you.

If you don't like the product, or if it does not meet your expectations that is entirely a different matter. It does not mean the product is faulty, inferior or damaged in some way. Likewise it does not mean that your opinion does not matter but it is just that. An opinion as most of you have pointed out.

Our products have not been mis-represented, they do exactly what we said they would do. All features and images were accurately portrayed. If when you receive an item it does not meet your expectations that is something we cannot control. But we do offer you a full money back guarantee if not completely satisfied.

If you have honest and constructive feedback on how you would have done something differently or how you would like us to improve future products please let us know by emailing us. Forums like this are a valuable resource and we do listen to opinions, but sometimes its hard to hear the message in an open forum.

We really appreciate the time you are taking to report things here but the best way to contact us is via email directly

    Teppo.

Firstly our apologies. Please contact us directly regarding this and any other matters. We notice several very angry and colorful posts from you on this forum but to date, you have not contacted us directly at all to let us know you are unhappy. We would very much like to engage in a personal conversation with you about it.

Let me state that the Cufflink is 100% NOT acceptable, it should NEVER have left the factory in this condition. Its terrible. We need you to confirm in writing with these images to us so we can use this to make a formal compliant to the factory concerned. We have paid for QA testing that was clearly not undertaken in this case.

If the damage to the shaft was caused after delivery in some way we also need to discuss that with you as although its slender the threaded bar on the cuff-link is quite strong and would only bend like this under very excessive force.

This is an exception and is not indicative of the cuff-link elements in our replica.

It is hard to tell from the image but the inside thread of the lighter should not be considered faulty unless the thread was cut incorrectly as to affect the functionality. Does your pen screw in and out without issue? The gold plating process will add some 'scarf' or marking to the inside of the threads as they are plated after manufacture and then polished. There is no way to effectively polish the insides of a female thread in production without potentially damaging it.

    Barry,

Thanks very much for taking the time to respond to the V2 side of things.

I am delighted that this is the case and am really looking forward to mine arriving.

I have no issue if the product is a little off to the exact version. I just don't expect the same company to release a better looking/exact version later on like SD Studios did. I don't care what anyone says here - that was just not fair or acceptable business in my eyes!

I will put up my thoughts on the GG once it arrives.

OK, got my Golden Gun out of customs & am back home.

Postman came with the advice note at 2.45pm, and customs at the PO stays open till 4.

So I dashed off (will find out if I got any speeding tickets in a couple of weeks time) and got there in time.

I was back home at 4.30.

No problems there, as the customs guys seemed to be in an unusually good mood.

Must be because tomorrow is a public holiday, and I was the last person there.

Aaaaaaaany way, lets get the bad tastes out of my mouth first.

They brought in the box, and the first thing to whack me across the head was that the postage cost USD54. I paid 86 something.

Not a good start, it made me feel like I was receiving something from eBay.

So FE, if you're reading this (duh), check your records & do the right thing.

2nd bad taste - box knocked around in transit, leading to actual GG box getting somewhat dented round the edges.

3rd bad taste that almost gave me a heart attack - at customs, they made me open every nook and cranny of the package ..... and I couldn't find the gun components ! I finally decided to check the only place I didn't, the styroform block inside the acrylic cover. "can't be here I thought, it's a light as a bleeding feather !" ... thus remembering some comments I read elsewhere about the GG's weight.

    Sure enough, there they were.

So got home, had my promised 2 glasses of wine and started having a good look at everything.

First and foremost, assembling the gun was a piece of cake. Everything fit like a hand in glove, screwed in nicely, etc. Perfect.

Examined the gun itself, and bar a minute scratch on the pen, absolutely perfect.

I played around with it for a while, and the weight grew on me. It's not heavy, and its not that light. It's great.

Put together the plaque etc, put it in my showcase and took a few pics.

    My opinions / self-FAQ's as follows :

Do I like it ? I absolutely adore it !

Is the quality OK ? Absolutely yes !

Can I compare it to my SD Studios GG ? Absolutely not. SD Studios is SD Studios, is SD Studios. It's in a class of its own.

Is the price I paid fair ? Absolutely yes !

Would I have bought an LE instead of an SE ? No. I can't compare them at all. The signatures are an integral part of what I wanted, so I cannot for a moment bring myself to think that I would have ever bought a LE.

Bottom line - except for the postage, perfect for the price. I couldn't be happier !

Another fantastic item for my collection that I will treasue for a very very long time !

That is just sexy as hell. Thanks for the review and great pics. Is there any open area in the cig case? I'm wondering if a little bit of tool steel wrapped in plastic and stuffed in it to add some weight wouldn't be the ticket for weight realism.
  • alancastillo1alancastillo1 MaltaPosts: 54MI6 Agent
I did of course write to Barry to moan about the shipping costs. :))

In all fairness, I will do the correct thing & quote his reply relating to this matter, hereunder for the board.

Have checked the shipping rates and they are correct.

    The ‘stamp’ on the package is just that it only reflects the actual cost of the metered postage for the package. It does not include any additional fees that the USPS charges us, in this case;

    · Insurance

    · Tracking and Signature Fee

    · Fuel surcharge (airmail)

    · Sales Tax

    · Collection Fee

Our website talks directly to the USPS/Indicia site and quotes the precise and exact amount, less any fees such as handling and card processing which we absorb, and this means we actually loose a small amount on each USPS transaction

This quite normal for most postal services. When you send a package with additional services the ‘stamps’ on the package will not be the same as what you are actually charged. For example if you send a registered letter there is a fee, but this is paid to the post office clerk, they do not add that fee in stamps to the letter.

We have negotiated discount rates with the USPS and I think you will find that our rates for international shipping via USPS are actually quite reasonable. If you were to get a quote to ship a similar size and weight box with insurance and direct signature from the UK to CA you might be shocked at the costs. USPS currently offers the best value as both DHL and Fed-Ex international rates are frankly insanely expensive.

    Regards

    Barry
