Alfani shirt from CR… quick question…

Everybody says Nylon but what is the difference between Nylon and polyester…I have found some black polyester ones – are they the same or not???

If you listen to the CR commentary track on the DVD, you'll hear Lindy Hemming say that the shirt was made by her personally and therefore not Alfani at all.

While this does tend to contradict much that has been "confirmed" over the years on this site, if it comes from Hemming I'd say that was the definitive answer.

Therefore, don't worry about the Alfani, and console yourself with the fact that like the rest of us you'll never have the same shirt.

Thanks for the info David, it was just because everybody says and think it is from Alfani… but thanks… In addition I think the Sunspel polo shirts are not the same as the one in CR… In Daniels there is some extra material in the back up in the top, compared to what you buy at Sunspel… don’t know if anybody has seen this.

Thank me not: I was as unaware as you until asked Simon - the Quartermaster - Ruzgar the same question only a few weeks ago and was corrected accordingly.

But Hemming does debunk the Alfani theory on the commentary.

There has been some, respectfully saying, contradictions from Lindy. Diesel shirts that turn out to be custom...and what she says on the DVD contradicts what she herself put in an early email before she went quiet with fans...and that is that the Alfani shirt was a last minute stand in...which factors in with other stories about clothes standing in for certain moments...regardless, we will probably never know for certain.

With such high level contradictions it's little wonder there are few guarantees of certainty in Bond collecting.

...and that, is a guarantee! :)

Unless you have the screen used version in your hand, its risky.

Even then, Dave, it'd be wise to get the COA's signed in blood! ;)

Mantis, to the best of your knowledge is the white Bahamas shirt a Diesel shirt or custom?

White bahamas shirt was most definetley custom, for what its worth Lindy talks about this on the DVD also.

She seems to contradict herself a lot. Especially here

She claims that the train shirt was actually a Turnbull and Asser, where it is universially agreed that it was a Brioni.

Maybe it was a Brioni, but shirts are easy to look alike and you have to stay open-minded and not ASSUME that we are right. I'm sure T&A could've done one. But she has so much clothes in her head, maybe she is mistaken!

I have the train shirt, it's Brioni. Before I found the shirt I looked through T&A's entire catalog at there store in NY, I looked at every swatch and there wasn't any that even came close to matching. When I was in Harrods a year ago they had a big sale and man was I lucky when I found it.
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

Monza860, would you be kind enough to post pics of the shirt and it's fabric...

Not sure the argument "Hemming is a bit - er - confused because she has lots of clothes running through her head and she's a bit forgetful (draw your own conclusions whether its due to age)" works when the counter argument is "but I know for sure because I am young and, while I have no connections in the movie or fashion industry bar the bloke in the store, I have spent hours with my nose pressed to TV and computer screens and looked at loads of images".

Hemming may be wrong. But she has as much chance as being correct - perhaps more so? - than any of us fans.

The fact is, until irrefutable documentary or photogarph evidence is produced from OFFICIAL EON sources, it is still all guess work.

Therefore, NOTHING should be claimed as fact until that is established. Unfortunately, at times, personal wishfulfillment can lead some fans to claim veracity when there is none.

NO, SHE doesn't the writer does....!

Doesn't anyone actually READ the articles?!

Let me tell you, having questioned Brioni London, the shirt WAS by them and WAS available from their winter xx collection - hence people being able to source a single cuff version. I was NOT, however, able to order one having spent an hour looking through EVERY swatch they had available...!

I did find an 'original' diesel shirt 'recently' at one of their outlet stores in the UK, but the shirt Bond wears was different and although clearly based upon the Diesel was custom.

Hemming is not mistaken, merely misquoted...!

    OR Miss Read...! :))
These days it takes three kills...!

That's a Beautiful shirt. If you cannot find the shirt or do not have $425 you can get the Hugo Boss self-stripped shirt for $95.
