Good afternoon,
I wanted to make the community aware of an upcoming auction on October 4th of Ian Fleming and James Bond material. It is all from the collection of author John Griswold who authored Ian Fleming's James Bond: Annotations and Chronologies for Ian Fleming's Bond Stories in 2006. He has been an aficionado of Bond and Fleming since the age of 10 when he viewed Dr. No, the first James Bond movie to hit the silver screen. Over the past 48 years, John Griswold amassed an extensive and comprehensive collection of objects and materials supporting the cultural context of the both the fictitious character of James Bond and the author Ian Fleming. Griswold’s collecting pursuits ran the gamut from 1960s Bond toys to first edition Fleming books to first release movie posters and lobby cards. Griswold and his wife traveled the globe tracing the travels of Fleming and his characters. And, they collected objects and books related to these locations as reference for his published work. Griswold’s all-encompassing collection along with his research materials will be included in the October sale. An electronic catalog will be available in September.
