Finally decided to buy a Rolex Submariner...

Hi All

As a long time fan of Omega watches I have repeatedly resisted buying a Rolex - despite the Bond connection. However, I decided it was time to obtain a Submariner and I have to say I am delighted with my new acquisition! The watch in question is the Rolex Submariner (with date) model 16610. I can see why all you Rolex fans love your watches, an impeccable time piece!

I am still an Omega fan but now also a Rolex fan! I feel my new Rolex compliments my Seamaster PO 42mm very well. Two great Bondian watches which I will enjoy wearing for many years to come!

Congrats, I wish they would put the Rolex back on Bond. that is a great watch I feel naked without mine

    Hi Mister Greene

Thank you for your kind words :) I too am begining to wish Bond went back to the Submariner but since I like the Seamaster too I am ok with DCs recent outings in the role. One day I can see Bond with a Rolex on screen once again.

So what happened to your Rolex? Do you no longer have it?

Very glad to hear you still have it - and I think you are correct in saying I will probably end up getting more :))

When Henry Cavill steps out in #23 actually looking like the Ian Fleming character, I hope they have the common sense to compliment it with a Rolex on his wrist....

I agree - it'd be nice to see the Submariner back.
I don't think Henry Cavill looks like Fleming's Bond though?

    Fair point.

I suppose I meant "resemble in anyway".

'Cos I don't recall any lines in Fleming where Bond is described as a short, muscular, blond-haired, and rather tired-looking. ;)

If they do put a Rolex on Bond's wrist again (and its a big IF as Omega will no doubt continue to pay for the product placement whereas Rolex won't) I do hope they pick the Submariner. As nice as some of the other Rolex models are surely Bond, an ex-Royal Navy Commander, should would pick the mighty Sub?!

Got to say I like the idea of Cavill as Bond but only once DC is finished - I'm a massive fan of DC's Bond...

I'd like them to use the Rolex too - but I'd prefer them to continue with the Omega because I've got it... that way I won't have to buy aother one... lol

Course they could always consider a Seadweller over a submariner. After all the Seadweller is arguably "The" dive watch. The latest, albeit "huge" model goes down 12000 feet.

Actually thinking about it - I'd like them to go for the Rolex next time - an excuse to treat myself and change my watch for the first time in 10 years... :))

By the way - it's a wonderful looking example you've got there - where did you get it?

It was bought from a jewellers in Essex - although I live in the Midlands myself. Technically it is second-hand having been pre-owned by a watch collector. However, the watch has never been worn (being in absolute mint condition) and came complete with box, papers and all the various stickers still attached. The serial number and papers show it was of 2005 manufacture - I therefore got it for about £800 less the normal retail price new.
