Best way to ID a watch?

Your name obviously, printed on the back.

What else? Zip code? Tel number? To ensure it getting back to you.

Any ideas? :)

not sure what you mean, the model number or case number is on the back of most watches.

Most quality watches don't have anything stamped on the back. The scene in LALD when Solitaire has to guess the serial number on Bond's watch makes me laugh - I've never seen a serial number on the back of a Rolex Submariner, and I've brought and sold a few.

You can get the back of the case engraved with whatever you want for security purposes, but if it's a decent watch with a good resale value you will all but devalue it. Unless you're famous, that is...

If it is a decent or valuable watch, chances are that it will never be returned, no matter what is engraved on the back... 8-)

Yeah, sorry I wasn't very clear. I mean engrave it with a name and so on so it can be returned. The watch isn't valuable as such, it's picked up for less than £50 in fact but I like it and it looks good, y'know. And is hard to get on eBay, it's a rarity though not a valuable one.

Nap - what are you doing to take your watch off and then risk losing it. Is it depraved, and does it involve hardcore porn...? :))
