50th Anniversary James Bond One-Sheet

AlphaMel1968AlphaMel1968 Washington DCPosts: 27MI6 Agent
Well, I'm glad I found this website! It's a little early but I put together this 50th Anniversary One Sheet showing virtually every one sheet poster I could find. There are a few minor variation posters missing, but I was limited to 81 posters. Did I miss anything major? This picture is a highly-condensed version of my master image, which is 27x41@ 300dpi:

Update: This forum apparently downsizes pictures, so the below picture looks "squished" and pixelated. It looks much better uncondensed. So click the below link to see a much better picture. Your browser may also downsize it, so you may have to click to magnify to it full size:

    Hi,

    Interesting idea.

    Not sure if the below is within the boundaries of 'minor alternatives', but;

    1. Why didn't you place the Spy poster after the Gg ones?
    2. The third FYEO only poster; I have two montage 1-sheets. One which has the completely red surround and no writing at the top (Int version) and the other which has a black top border and writing (No one comes close...) Yours appears to be a variant on these two. Could you tell me what is your poster?
    3. I think there is an alternative NSNA poster, but am unsure if this is an Australian version. http://www.learnaboutmovieposters.com/posters/db/poster.asp?pid=2578
    4. Is this a US 1 sheet exercise - if including UK and International versions, there is a 1 sheet version of the UK quad for Octopussy.
    5. Is this a US 1 sheet exercise - if including UK and International versions, there is a 1 sheet version of the UK quad for AVTAK. (Judging by your inclusion of the UK LTK, GE 1 sheets etc, this would not seem to be the case.)
    6. There is the 1984 JB festival, although this is slightly less than 1 shee size but since you have included other festivals...
    7. There is a Campaign C version of the DAD 1 sheet which is less blue, has more bullet sound wave reverberations displayed.
    8. There are the 3 x character UK 1 sheets for CR, Bond and two girls.
    9. There is the blue-ish International 1 sheet for QoS.

And, as you say, there are infinte variations where there are date/coming soon alternatives, TWINE with/without credits above the title, mirrored 007 on the TND teaser etc etc.

    Cheers.

Good stuff. But no one wants so many DAD posters, they're hideous like the film.

And there's a better poster of NSNA, the Italian one though Connery has a dodgy toupee in it...

Or a variation on this one:

You've picked the worst NSNA poster!

Thanks for your comments, Simes! I'll have to make some corrections. The SPWLM is clearly out of order.

There are many beautiful foreign posters, of course, but I am strictly using English language one sheets for which I can find a very large image. I'll track down the ones you are referencing and try to substitute the better images.
  • SimesSimes WindsorPosts: 80MI6 Agent
Yup, figured it was the English language ones.

I can immediately help with the QoS Int and Eyes variations if you provide an email address.

Others can be photographed but not until next week now - off for a few days shortly.

    Happy to help.

Nice -was there really only one TSWLM poster?

What's the deal, are copies for sale?

Yes, only one TSWLM one-sheet to my knowledge - and it's one of the best. Unforunately, the mediocre posters (like some of the Brosnan one sheets) get just as much space as the very best.

No, it's not for sale since these are copyrighted posters. Just a project of mine. I may print out one copy for myself once I perfect it. I'm sure there will be an official 50th anniversay poster, although it will not feature nearly as many as these I'm sure.

There are so called "checklist posters" available that show the different one sheets, however they don't show the different iterations of posters that were available for a particular movie like the two advance one sheets for YOLT or the three standard YOLT one sheets. Likewise, the checklists don't show the re-release (or film festival) one sheets like the ones shown after Goldfinger and Thunderball in Alphamel's poster. I have a 25th Anniversary checklist poster that features a telescopic site in the center of the gunbarrel that came out in 1987 and features TLD in the center. It's 27x40 or 27x41, true one sheet size. The more recent check lists from the DAD and CR time periods are I think slightly smaller than one sheet size. There are also various marketing posters like the Connery Tball and YOLT Esquire posters, the Brosnan Bollinger and Omega posters (I have some). Moore had Michellin and 00Donut posters as well.

Ah, just seen you had removed the Mr Review sheet to presumably makes things all square again.

Also a GE Int 1 sheet.

Here is a picture of my actual 25th Anniversary checklist poster. I think it's more valuable then the other checklists because it was actually promoting the 25th Anniversary documentary/promotional Bond special and the then new Bond movie TLD appearing on ABC here in the U.S. I mis-spoke above, I actually do have one of the more recent checklists that seems to have come out around the time of The World Is Not Enough.

Have to say, these Checklist posters are a completely random affair.

What exactly are they checking? Only one of the three main YOLT posters is listed. Some teasers are included, others are not.

They are completely spurious efforts that Alpha's example totally destroys.

I would tend to agree with you on that except the 25th anniversary poster was not meant to be a checklist. It was just a poster honoring James Bond's 25 years in film and therefore only needed a representative poster from each movie. The more recent checklists are just that, but as you said they don't represent all iterations of the posters available for a particular realease.

If I were doing Alphmel's poster, I might separate the re-release and foreign one sheets from the original U.S. one sheets, but thats me. I assume he was attempting to coalesce all Bond one sheets regardless of vintage or country of origin. Either way, I think he did an enviable job.

OK guys, here's a new version of my poster. I finally found large high-quality pics of the rare "For Your Eyes Only" advance one sheets - first three posters on the fifth row - and substituted here and there to fit them in:

Direct link to high quality image here.

So I finally printed out my custom James Bond 50th anniversary poster, which has most of the US and international one sheets (with some minor variations omitted).  It probably took 100 hours from start to finish - gathering all the high quality images, correcting the images, arranging the images, creating a title, getting it printed etc.   It really turned out very well.  Each picture is very sharp and clear.   What do you all think?

The final master digital image (8,100 x 12,300 pixels (300mb!), shrunk here to 1,150 pixels vertical):

The image printed at 27"x41" @300dpi (cost $85 to print on lustre paper- expensive!) :

Now that's a checklist! Pretty cool. I guess you "fudged" the the first YOLT teaser. I almost bought one but opted for the fully realized "First, Then, Next, Last" teaser. Still, to be complete I must eventually get one. Anyway, very nice work and great for a James Bond office.

That's interesting. I remember actually holding one in my hand at a dealer and I don't remember the black out. Could be I'm just old and can't remember to save my a$$. I remember looking at the first teaser and the second teaser and opting to buy the second teaser. Now you've piqued my curiosity and I'll have to check with my dealer, hopefully he still has it or a picture of it. If I got it wrong then I'll certainly report it here and start taking memory support like ginkoba biloba.

    DG

Edit: A funny thought. It could be that I blacked out the black out.

    You're absolutely right!

I checked with one of my dealers and although he no longer has the YOLT Teaser A 1 sheet, he does have the YOLT Teaser A 2 sheet, commonly referred to as a subway poster because they were used on subway platforms. Well the 2 sheet Teaser A has the blacked out panel so the one sheet most certainly had it too.

Sheesh, I can't remember Ginko, or blacked out panels. It's a b*%ch getting old!

Yep, and as you said before it's a fugly poster. Which is probably why I chose the Teaser B poster in the first place. Perhaps my mind didn't want to remember the horror!

Very cool! However, I must admit I never took to the quads myself. I find the vertical style of U.S. one sheets much more pleasing to the eye. Perhaps if I'd grown up in Great Britain I might feel differently.

    Not sure if you’re asking for a checklist against this job or not;

    1. There exists a Dr No re-release poster.
    2. There exists a FRWL re-release poster
    3. Spy has a Seiko quad produced
    4. Mr has a Seiko quad produced
    5. Octopussy has a Teaser quad – 13 Bonds
    6. AVTAK has a main quad.
    7. Living Daylights has a pre-teaser
    8. Living Daylights has a main quad
    9. LTK has a teaser poster
    10. TND has a teaser poster
    11. Your existing TND poster is placed after the TWINE advance…
    12. DAD has a pre-teaser
    13. DAD has a mid teaser (not sure of the terminology for these)
    14. CR has two teasers – one with Coming Soon and one with the November date
    15. QoS has a pre-teaser – desert shadow
    16. QoS has a mid teaser – desert Bond and gun

Anyway, this might flesh it out a bit…
  • SimesSimes WindsorPosts: 80MI6 Agent
    And of course, if we are to be completist about this, there are;

    17. Park Circus re-release quads for Russia, Gf and Spy.
    18. About 17 double/triple feature and festival quads.

But perhaps I should get on with some work...
