Pfft...that's nothing. I've got more than that just in my sock drawer. Wow...talk about a lifetime's collecting. That's a truly remarkable collection of Bond/Fleming. Can't imagine that there are many others that compare. The only thing really missing are props.

Those items are from John Griswold who wrote "Ian Fleming's James Bond - Annotations and Chronologies for Ian Fleming's James Bond Stories". If you are a fan of the novels, it's a great book to own.

Did I miss something? Did Griswold die, or is he just selling off his Bond assets? I noticed a couple of familiar items in Lot 64 as well as a third piece in that lot that's in my own collection. It's the Connery from the waist up with the LP-53. Mine is still un-built but it's a great likeness of Connery in FRWL. I see a lot of other items that are in my collection as well, along with some cool ones that are not. He was definitely a Bond connoisseur, because he collected in a number of different key areas.

Edit: My question has been answered. I see over at another Bond site that Griswold's collection is being sold due to declining health. I'm personally very sorry to hear that. I wish the family well.

Very impressive ! They do seem to be undervalueing some items though; the AHI and Eidai Lotus' estimated at $100,- to $ 200,- ??? I'll gladly take em for $200,- and pay whatever costs more are involved. :))

However, a sad reason for the sale.

I have Griswold's book also...its a ripper reference book for the Bond novels. Real sad to hear of his declining health and well wishes to him and the family.

DG good to hear you have the Connery LP53 bust. I have 2. As you know from packaging, its sculptured by a chap called Eden Small. I met him when I bought the sculpts direct from him. He used to live real near me in Australia and he worked as a commercial painter, I think (building type not art) but sculptured as a hobby. He worked on the Connery sculpt off photos, would you believe. His dad asked him to send samples of his work to Weta (of Lord of the Rings fame) and he is now working for them. He has made a lot of the Weta movie collectibles and sadly has hardly any time for Bond nowadays. His Connery sculpt is one of the best I have ever seen - in roughly 1/3 scale. Its almost close enough to rip off the body on the 1/4 scale Sideshows (shock horror) to add to Edens Connery head ???

Sid, yes, that's right, Eden Small. The name came back to me today as I was driving to work. Glad to know he's doing well. I bought mine directly from him too, but found out about it through Amazing Figure Modeler. I think I still have that issue somewhere. It's funny I have been thinking off and on over the years about adding legs to the bust. The sculpt is that good. I think it's even better than the Sideshow offerings. Some of us Bond fanatics think alike. Small world. Check your PM's.

John is a brilliant fellow. We were priviliged to host him in New York at our Bond Collectors' Weekend VII. His Annotated Ian Fleming is a must read. It was sheer wonder to hear his detailed answer to questions such as "When was James Bond born?"

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this time.
