Very nice DG, no pics , the most acurate at this time, that I have seen is the 2nd Gen S.D., if he had used the vintage sparklets, it would have been closer and if he had gone ahead with what is on his blueprint it would have been spot on.
You should upload the printing in high resolution so the boys can play

But as to the accuracy of your set breather DG , what you see on screen is not quite what it seems, but a very nice item never the less B-)
Not quite sure what you mean. I think the main difference in the set rebreather and the location re-breather, apart form the shape of the air cyllinders, is in the regulator. The "T" or "X" portion is higher and has 4 machined divits on the set version. It's hard to see in ICS's screen captures, but it's there. The S.D. Studio versions don't have this. The "T's" are shallower and don't have the divits.
DG
Edit: Also, on all the S.D. Studios versions I've seen including mine, the mouth pieces are grey. The Pinder set re-breather had a blue mouth piece.

Yes DG I know what it looks like on screen, but as I say things are not what they seem on screen, there is a reason for this, but I'm afraid I wont be saying what it is, you will have to take my word for it

and the mouth piece, is erm yes blue on screen, but not in reality.
Uh oh, sounds like the Connery/Bond watch strap color discussion. Red, or no red? The eternal question.
Well I know a re-breather said to be an original turned up in someones collection, but when I saw pictures of it, it looked like a buggered S.D. Studios re-breather. It comes down to provenance I suppose.

homework and good friends is my provenance, how can I elaborate, you have your old news letters from S.D.? go and read them, that will give you a big clue.

Well, I know they had the blueprint from EON. I was able to get a copy of what S.D. used myself, from S.D. However, that matches the location prop, not the set prop. I also know that the famous Connery cover Esquire Magazine had a sketch of a folding version of the re-breather that was never used. I also know that you have inside dope. Kudos on that. However, to my knowledge, none of the re-breathers have survived. Only the blueprint.
I guess what I'm getting at is although a blueprint exists for one version it does not mean they did not make another version not using that blueprint.

very true, but if you look at bluray screen grabs and you have that blueprint you should know what I am talking about, in fact both breathers use the same centers.

Well, I'll have to dig out my blueprint then. I did just look at my special edition Thunderball (not Blueray) and I see the same things I mentioned earlier. As for the Blueray, I have Thunderball on Blueray, but have not gotten a player yet. But I've heard that the Thunderball Blueray uses the old prints not the digitally remastered prints. For some reason it's the only one of the Blueray's that reverted to the old print, not the remastered print. Go figure.
Anyway, I hear what you're saying but...

Sometimes I find these discussion interesting and funny… when I look at the screenshot I clearly see a blue mouth device and the SD version has it gray…then DO claims it is gray in the movie etc…I must have your optician's name … then arguments over the blueprint, but I think people forget that although there may be blueprints then this doesn’t guaranty the way it was made…sometimes derivation occurs…
OK....here's what I remember (and remember, yesterday was my birthday and I'm forgetting things with old age...LOL)
Steve originally made the rebreather based on photos I took of VHS frames from the film as we didn't have the luxury of DVD/Laserdisc/Blue-Ray screen captures in those days.
If I remember correctly, the mouthpiece was then made of a gray resin but, as he thought people would put them in their mouths (and who didn't when they got theirs) had the later versions machined out of Delrin so he wouldn't poison his customers thereby preventing future sales.
As we were unable, at the time, to obtain the cigar tubes Steve simply had the machine shop turn down a piece of aluminum for the bottom and make a cap for the top. The photo shows just the tube with the machined top. He later added the rounded bottom.
Steve later did obtain aluminum tubes which he used by adding a clear adhesive label
Stating that the fine aromatic flavor could not be enjoyed due to the embargo on Cuban cigars. (NOTE: it’s a ROMEO)
After visiting the Eon archives and seeing the actual blueprints, as well as the familiar white on black drawings, we noticed it mentioned "Sparklets valves turned down (stock)" and Steve decided to then change the canister design to more closely match what we saw on the actual blueprint.
When we met Bert Luxford at Pinewood we asked him about that and he confirmed that he had simply machined down the stems of CO2 Sparklet canisters to use for the prop.
In actuality, there were two versions we see on screen. The rounded canisters in Pinder’s and the turned down stems in Largo’s pool and in the underwater battle.
I remember reading somewhere that if you were to compress oxygen into so small a container that the expulsion into your mouth would freeze your head causing instant death!!!
