Why have Eon ruined the gun Barrel ?

In qos by having it at the end not the start ?

I think they put it there to bookend with the start of CR,But I honestly don't think EON has an Idea where to go with their new Bond. Heres hoping it's back at the start of the next one.

I'm sure they will for Craigs 3rd.

To be honest I don't think it needed to be monkeyed about with in the first place I understand the reasoning behind it, but it would have made no negative impact on Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace to have it in the right place.

The character may have had to earn OO status in the first few mins of CR but see no reason for him to have to earn the gunbarrel - or his theme tune for that matter.

I loved the new spin on the gun-barrell at the start of CR. It introduced Craig with a real bang. However I don't really understand y Eon put the gunbarrell at the end of QoS though. I suppose you could argue that it signaled the beginning of the Bond we know. However it still seems out of place.

Also, those who say "Bond could not be like the character we know after CR" seem to be forgetting the end of that film. He was standing over Mr. White, all suited up and, to top it off, he said "those" words. Point being he seemed to have become EXACTLY the Bond we know.

I see nothing wrong with a little bit of change, especially in a first time ever situation that one Bond film was a direct sequel. The gun barrel in CR was a bit unpolished, while the QoS barrel was more in line with a completely porfessional Bond. It bookends the two movie set. Good to get away from any checklist approach to the movies. The changes can help keep it fresh.

It keeps it fresh, sure, but it's quite easy to forget or miss in QOS, given that it comes from nowhere at the end of the movie. The way it was introduced in CR was done very well and I think they could have continued that with a better job of it in QOS. Maybe incorporate it into the opening of the credits sequence or something?

I like the gunbarrel at the begining - I hope it's there for for Bond 3... ;)

I simply blame B. Broccoli (who has not inherited any of her fathers iconic genes) and her ill-thought step-brother Wilson. Who in many repects have been tearing away at what we all know and love, I for one blame them for adding all these strong female roles, Bond now embodying chastness, Bond not haveing his gun barrel sequence, or his iconic introduction line.
They are sincerely, begining to annoy me. And I don't give a damn about they're Bond being so sensitive, in the books Vesper died and Bond forgot about it in a heart beat, thats all I want-something like that, a leading charachter who ice cold, is it to much to ask for?

I don't think Bond down right forgot about her but he took her death like a man. Bond certaintly did not conduct some sort of foolish vendetta. However, one can argue that he fell head over heels for Solitare in Live and Let Die because she did resemble Ms. Lynd.

As for strong females in the Craig era, I don't think they are as bad as Wai Lin or Jinx. Camille's problem is she had no personality and what's worse is that James Bond dosen't even bother to get her in bed. I mean honestly, I can take no gun barrel and no gadgets but really, Bond with a lovely woman for more than an hour and NOT doing her ? That's just wrong.

The gun barrel at the end of Quantum was silly. No reason for it not to be at the opening of the film. Not that having the barrel at the beginning would make the film better. I like Casino Royale's gun barrel because we get to see where it started. Then at the end of Casino Royale, Bond is Bond with the reading of the popular line. Quantum forgot all of that.

It's another element of the character and films that has been needlessly stripped away. And it really bugs me to no end. Craig is a fine actor and does not bother me. In fact, I quite like him in films-but not as Bond. It just doesn't work the way they're doing things.
We need our gunbarrel back the way it should be. When I first saw the horror that is CR-that gunbarrel was so awful and such a slap in the face that I wanted to run out then and there.

I think the Gun Barrel was at the end to signify this is the start of Bond or the Bond as we know him. after his first mission (CR) and the follow up (QOS) now he can start to become the more refined 007. So personaly I think it will be back at the begining of the next chapter in the Bond saga.

I thought this was simply a Mark Forester decision. He really didn't want it at all but stuck it at the end to appease the masses.

Or he might have thought it was artsy having it at the end to bookend the film...

But the problem with that is Daniel Craig was Bond at the end of Casino Royale. The whole film was him working towards that. At the end, the only real question was what Bond would he be like? Unfortunately, they made Craig an action hero/Bourne type Bond. If they wanted to continue the growth of the Bond character and have him become Bond at the end of Quantum, they probably should have ended Casino Royale with Bond crying over Vesper and looking for revenge and still rough looking when he catches Mr. White. Probably have him not even use the Bond, James Bond line but something like "you'll find out" when Mr. White asks who he is.

Yea I feal that everything built up to in CR, i.e. the ending and Bond becomeing bond was forgoten and thrown out the window with QoS.
Its really tragic in a way, on another note I for one would have loved to see Flemings version of a screenplay for Bond (it was really crude of the Brocollis to shoo him away for Dr. No as he approached them more then once with ideas) and I wonder how Fleming himself would have continued CR.
