Dr. No and FRWL Prop-Photos

Hey'all

I just re-watched the above mentioned movies the other day. And came to think: Is that Ian Fleming on the Photo of Strangways and Quirrel?

Has somebody the Photo of Tanja from FRWL and the Strangways picture in a good resolution. I really would love to have these two hanging on my wall in my home cinema.

Cheers,
Red

And...NO...that's the actor that played Strangways...it's NOT Fleming.

Timothy Moxon was Strangways... he attended our BCW 3 in New Orleans and SpyFest/BCW 6 in Long Beach.

SpyFest was held aboard the Queen Mary, and Moxon had sailed her when she was the Grey Ghost in World War II!

Since what seemed to be a generous offer turned out to be an effort to earn money "Plan B" is coming to effect... I will try to replicate these paper props and will make them available to the fans. I am pretty good with Photo Shop... But to get the best result I need the best raw material available. Could somebody who owns the Blu-Ray please send me a snap of the following frames? My email is redbeard(at)redbeard.de

I think this could really turn out great...

    RedBeard,
People here will have a lot to say if you are referring to ED!! Let me put my two cents in on the "effort to earn money" comment anyway...LOTS of research and skill go into creating many of the props you see, not to mention the research time, materials, etc. If you are looking for high quality replica props then you need to expect to shell out some money if you want someone else to provide them for you. If you are skilled at photoshop, then create your own and put in the time that others are looking to be paid for. Those of us in this community are eager to assist others, but also are not adverse to paying for what we get from many of the experts here-I have made many props myself for my collection and get a great deal of pride in creating them so if someone wants to put my items in their collection I too would probably charge to recoup my investment. Don't complain if everything you are looking for is not handed to you on a silver platter.

i agree to the point of expecting others to hand over this type of info so that it can simply be replicated is not on...
but i do appreciate the help the forem does bring with advice and snippits of info to help start or ease through a project. thats what is all about... hint hint :))

but some effort is needed to prove your worth before the trust can be gained .....

    what do you all say...........

Sorry Redbeard but you have definately stirred a hornets nest. I heartily concur with all my fellow AJB'ers have said above. You wouldn't believe the amount of time and effort that goes into these pieces. I also produce a limited range of 'items', I try to stay clear of what others have already produced, unless I can produce a genuinely better piece. Then I will do so in consultation with the originator of the piece. Am I happy to pay for what others produce? Damn straight! Do I charge for my pieces? Damn straight! Expect nothing for free in this life!

Having said all that, we have not yet heard the full story so am happy for you to put the record straight at your leisure.

I agree with my fellow AJB members -{ Nothing is free in this world,
someone always ends paying one way or another :v :))

Redbeard, don't forget to track down the original sizes of the photos
and the correct paper from early sixties ;)

Oh, about the screen cap...which one do ya prefer, money transfer or Paypal, perhaps? ;) :))

    Hi Redbeard

First reaction – you are arrogant ”#¤%&/()… here you come on AJB and on you first post ask for help to produce some props that has been done by other propmakers… One propmaker – a person I call a friend and perhaps one of the fathers of Bond props comes and want to help you… help you get what you want. When you suddenly discover that obtaining what you want costs you go to a plan B where you want HD / Blue-ray screenshots from the same forum - I would call you even more arrogant and stupid…
here my story… accidently ended on Ajb as both propmaker and representative of a lager propmaking group in Denmark..it has taken lone time to be accepted an most important trusted...still don’t think I am trusted bye all members…well anyway.

Fist if we do a prop we will post it on our thread to get feedback and possible make corrections..(I know we had typos on our ATAC instructions that were corrected)

Though ABJ friends we have received information on props in our pipeline that are worth more than money…

Some AJB members send copies of there draft to hear our opinion on them etc – we don’t expect anything in return (only that we can do the same)…and when finished we don’t expect discounts…

If I was moderator I would send you a PM about behaviour…

Sorry if my blood pressure got a little up…

I am very sorry. I really did not intend to step on anybody's toes. What I did is to express what I felt. To me it genuinely sounded like Ed was willing to give the files to me and I was quite shocked when he asked 35 $ for a print of the Dr. No photo. I then decided to give it to recreate them myself and then make them publicly available since I figured I am not the only person who would enjoy these pictures. My intention was not to attack anybody. I really appreciate the amount of work that goes into a prop replica. To be honest I though some of you would know me from other forums like the RPF or Club Obi Wan. I am a prop maker since 2002 and my replica of the Holy Grail is kinda for it's level of detail. I am not saying this to show of but to make clear that I really appreciate good and hard work.

That said would you gentlemen please accept my honest apologies? I am really impressed by your loyalty!

    Cheers,

I've heard of you Redbeard. I'm a member over at COW, but don't post much over there and I lurked there for eons before I finally became a member. I have several Indy props in my collection including two Wested jackets, Aldens, props and several 1 sheet posters. You used to be able to lurk, now you have to be a member to read the threads. Anyway, welcome. You sort of inadvertently touched a sore nerve about props and collecting information. There are individuals who come here looking for quick easy information. The problem is the knowledge has been amassed over a long period of time, taking a great deal of research to find the items and the stories behind them. There have been more than one individual who has come here and taken information without regard to the hard work involved and used the information for their own gain.

I affectionately call Ed the "King Of Bond Props" or KOBP. He is one of the best and was also one of the creators of Yoda's lightsaber. You won't find a better gentlemen. As you did not know this and because your reputation preceeds you, you are entitled to a do over in my book. Welcome.

    Hi Red
Welcome and pleased you responded so positively. Although we are not the Bond mafia we sometimes appear to be, we are very protective of each other. I found that when I first darkened these hallowed corridors it was better to give rather than recieve, you will then build respect and trust. I pride myself as one of Mister Ed's students, although why I would want to learn from a talking horse is anybody's guess :D

    Hey Red,
Guess I may have started this, so I wanted to pipe up again. Your response was welcomed and appreciated. I hope you understand that most here have no trouble in assisting, but are fiercely loyal to the many experts who put in so much energy for us collectors. Welcome to the forum and hope you will find everyone here as genuine and helpful as I have.
