Living with Bond on a daily basis

It struck me this morning how Bond is just a normal part of everyday life. OK, I dont where the cufflinks every day, but the Floris soap isnt in there either, nor the suits.

Its not really a conscious thing, but has just crept in.

Is it just me? How is Bond in your everyday life?

I couldn't agree more...in fact at one time I wrote some articles on the very subject:

    http://zaritsky.webs.com/collectingarticles.htm

There are actually many times when I don't think I have any Bond "representation on and yet it's all around me...watches, money clip, pens...it's really amazing how it has invaded our lives and has become so much a part of it that it becomes natural. Love your picture, BTW...pure class!

I'm new to the forum (long time lurker though!), so will start by saying hi to one and all & look forward to joining in with the Bond experience that we all appear to enjoy so much.

Would have to fully agree with you both. So many things have crept in to my everyday life without thinking about them, particularly regarding clothing, accessories and the general lifestyle. I've also changed the way that I view potential purchases, so as to look for a more tailored, elegant and refined look.

Of course the downside to this is the need to start applying for second mortgages in order to fund the desired lifestyle, especially if Mr Tom Ford continues to have his way!! :))

Could not agree with all the above comments more...Its all pervasive...scrambled eggs( lots of butter) strong coffee.. classic muted coloured clothing, the correct watch, cuff links, Turnbull shirts, pocket square's..the list goes on.

    Great observation ExpatJB

I guess it shouldnt be surprising I agree wit you all!

It just kind of caught me by surprise when I looked at my bathroom counter (daily use, not a display), and then I go to my wardrobe and pretty much everything is of a theme, off to the kitchen for my scrambled eggs and coffee using the Chemex (which I love, its so pure) and then I go to the garage, and get in a yellow pick up truck.

My sense of humour starts in the garage obviously, as you dont see many suits in one of these.

For dinner, some great dover sole.

You just HAVE to live well. You do only live once.

My wash stand is almost the "negative" of your own.

    I use a Trumper's brush and razor.

While I do presently use Floris No89, aftershave and hard shaving soap, I am replacing them with Geo Trumper's Eucris. I prefer the smell.

My watch is a Rolex Sub. My notes are pounds.

I DO drive an Aston Martin.

And from the backseat my daughter complains about the leg-room. And my large, rugby-playing 13 year old says the same in the front: when are you going to buy a new car, dad?

And in the morning I have to chase the plumber as the house boiler is knackered.

Bond lifestyle all the way. ;)

    Thats pretty funny. :D

Trumpers were tempting, they have a great shop.

I used to have an old Lotus Excel and it had the most perfect bucket seats in the back. Too small for adults, great for littles ones up until a certain age. We had a lot of fun in that car. It had to go in the end though.

My kids sound the same age as your now (I have a 13 year old rugby playing son, 11 year old volleyball playing girl), but with having to save for a house, the DB9 will have to wait. When I get it, I will most certainly deaf to any complaint! That is is absolutely for sure.

Where did you get that watch case? Its perfect!
It's an EBay special. There's a sleeve it slots into, as it's meant to be a travel case, for when you take more than one watch with you. As you do.

But for me it's just handy to drop it into each night.

I don't have the seller details I'm afraid.

My wife also hates it. She says it smells like a bordello. I answered: At least it,s an expensive bordello :)) I personally like it but think it's more a scent for older people but you really have to admit that No. 89 must be oone of the longest lasting fragrances there is. You put it on in the morning and it still smells in the evening. I have never experienced that with any other fragrance before the all only last for a couple of hours.

    Cheers,

I can agree more with the above as well. I wear a different watch from the films almost very day. (I dont like to wear the same watch, shoes or belt two days in the row) I also am never without my Dunhill lighter. Best part, I dont even smoke!!!

    Now thats commitment.

I agree with the comments about No.89. I thought it an old fashioned, masculine scent, when I first got it. It is from the 50's, so that is what you would expect. Works for me, and smells better than I do, even if it is older than me.

Never tried Floris, but from the descriptions here, I think I'll give it a miss! However...I do sport my Tom Ford sunglasses and Sunspel shirt in the summer and my Persols in the winter and although pointed to them by this very website and my passion for Bond, I find that they truly are the best sunglasses and the best polo shirt I have ever owned in terms of practicality, comfort and look and are very much part of daily life.

I shave with floris razor and brush, wear No 89 as well as other floris aftershaves, I use a floris face cloth in the shower along with my floris shower gel, and never really take off my rolex explorer II.
I too often think would bond wear this or that, sometimes it drives me nuts, other times it is a sort of comfort to me.
I think the over all effect is that you some how feel a little bit closer to the great man himself. :)

I have an odd comment to add.

Be wary of using the brush and shaving foam if you're follicly challenged ie receding. I have a feeling my hair jumped back a few minimetres the week I sat down in the bath and had a Live and Let Die style shave with a shaving mirror three times in a week. :#

You really hit the nail on the head in those articles, particularly the more budget-minded take on things.

I too find myself inspired by the Bond lifestyle, though usually not as a literalist. One doesn't have to hold 00 status (or be loaded) to look (and live) like you mean it.
