Goldfinger - Because this it where it all came together for the first time, the opening, the Bassey theme, the gadgets, the car, the wit, the villain, henchman & the girls.
The Spy Who Loved Me - 'It's all in this one'.
Moonraker - Okay, this is my guilty pleasure. It's Bond in space and there are some great moments in the film, who can forget the reprisal of Jaws leaping from the plane and the great dynamic that he and Bond had.
Goldeneye - After the Dalton era it was back to 'The Bond Formula' with Brosnan in the role he was born to play. (..and he should have been given the oportunity to sign out in style before the handover to Craig)
Casino Royale - Great hard hitting revamp in the role Craig was 'Bourne' to play.
You must be kidding. Death Hunt was a low-budget independent film. Hunt was the director for hire, and he is responsible for everything that's good in it.

The top 7 Bond films: 1) Dr No. 2) From Russia With Love. 3) Thunderball. 4) On Her Majesty's Secret Service. 5) For Your Eyes Only. 6) The Living Daylights. 7) Licence to Kill.

Was it an indy film ? I didn't know that. Also no, I am not joking. I thought Death Hunt was a very engaging film because of the complex relationship between Marvin and Bronson. I also really felt for Bronson as these wicked, boorish, people were after him. Also the action pieces and fights were terrific. Sorry but this film outshines the bland, forgetable For Your Eyes Only.
I understand what you meant now. I certainly agree that Death Hunt is a better directed film because Peter Hunt is -- was -- a director's director whereas John Glen was not. Death Hunt is a good film and I like it tolerably well.
I do wish Michael J. Wilson had kept his filthy hands off Richard Maibaum's script for For Your Eyes Only. It was a beauty of a script, one top 3 or 4 scripts in the entire series, and all Wilson did was screw it up. And then it was badly mis-directed by John Glen. Too bad Glen and Hunt couldn't swap films.

Interesting. I read Maibaum say that he and Michael G. Wilson wrote the script together--in the same room, in consultation with one another--and that this was the first time he had ever done something like this; previously his scripts were either revised by someone or he was brought in later to revise someone else's script. So what, exactly, did Wilson screw up?
u cant really not like dr no. at the end of the day, it set high standards for future bond films. it is not my favourite but you must respect it for what it is
Goldfinger
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Casino Royale
You Only Live Twice
From Russia with Love
These are not necessarily the best Bond films . . . although I think one could argue the merits of each . . . but they are the ones that I keep returning to when I want to watch a Bond film.
Comments
Goldfinger -- The iconic Sean Connery Bond film and the first film to perfect the Bond formula.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service -- Severely-underrated; the most dramatic Bond film of all.
The Spy Who Loved Me -- Roger Moore's greatest film, and an easy contender for best Bond film ever made.
GoldenEye -- An outstanding debut for Pierce Brosnan and one of the greatest action films of the nineties.
Casino Royale -- The series revival we had all been waiting for. Move over, Jason Bourne. Daniel Craig IS James Bond.

I am glad Hunt didn't direct because he made the far superior Death Hunt that year.
