Authentic James Bond / Villain Clothing

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, so please be kind! :)

I've been very impressed by the posts here and some of the replicas / merchandise for sale... you all seem very clued up in the world of James Bond!

I'm researching into authentic (or as near as can be) James Bond / Villain clothing for a James Bond party I'm to attend. These affairs usually turn up the usual characters etc, but I wanted something different... perhaps original or a copy of an outfit or part of an outfit to wear. As I've seen a lot of impressive items here already, I wondered if people had items they were wanting to sell that I could possibly use for an outfit/disguise! I haven't really decided on any particular villain or era really, I'm trying to find inspiration for that outfit that's a little bit special.

So, if you have any ideas or have any real corkers to offer (or indeed just offer advice on how to recreate that something unique), then I'd like to hear it :) Apologies if this isn't the place or you get this thing regularly, but the forums seem populated with great people so I thought I'd give it a try.

Cheers!

Hello, Findus. Welcome to the forum!

Depending on your budget & location, it's very much possible to purchase some of the items that have been worn in Bond movies. Some brands to keep in mind include:

Tom Ford: Most of Bond's wardrobe for Quantum of Solace was made by TF, including his suits, shirts, ties, cardigan, overcoats, & sunglasses.

Brioni: Brioni has made Bond's suits & tuxedos from Goldeneye to Casino Royale, as well as some of his shirts & ties.

Turnbull and Asser: They have made most of Bond's dress shirts & some of his ties.

Sunspel: Makers of Daniel Craig's navy blue polo shirt in Casino Royale, which was copied by Tom Ford for QoS.

John Lobb: Daniel Craig's dress shoes in Casino Royale.

Church's: Daniel Craig's dress shoes & chukka boots in QoS.

Persol: Makers of 007's sunglasses for Die Another Day & Casino Royale.

    7 for All Mankind
: Bond wears a pair of their jeans in the Bolivian desert in QoS.

    S.T. Dupont: Daniel Craig's cufflinks

In addition, Bond Lifestyle, Magnoli Clothiers, Baron Boutique, & Affordable Bond are also great sites to check out.

Is there a specific outfit or character that you were looking to recreate?

I think he may want villain clothing versus Bond...if its a party and you want to LOOK the part ebay has a Dr. Evil grey tunic outfit (stay with me) that could easily double as a Blofeld outfit. Get a white stuffed cat and viola...

If you want something abut more expensive you could always go the tuxedo route, say a DAY or morning tuxedo with striped pants and a bowler to go as Odd Job.

Thanks for the information so far guys. Blu8... that is some impressive knowledge!

I'm based in the UK, so I will research into a few bits and pieces.

What I basically had in mind is going as someone a little different, probably a villain of some sort. I have a tuxedo already (also called "The Backup Plan"), but I'd like to turn up in something a little special.

My first thought was to go as Tee Hee Johnson. The outfit shouldn't be a problem apart from the prosthetic limb! I've tried to source one of those, but with little success :(

My second idea was Necros, just a simple milkman's outfit with a pair of old school walkman headphones, but again, I can't really find a uniform that fits.

Other alternatives are sourcing proper Russian Army gear and taking on a variety of henchman looks, but that's a little too generic. Must be me, but the newer Bond villains just don't seem to have as much individuality as the old ones!

I think it all really depends on what you look like. Go with the villain you resemble most. Or if you are 6’2’’ slim/fit build and dark haired, there is no reason at all not to go as Bond (although as it seems, 5’9’’ blond guys can also pretend to be Bond). But if you want to be a villain I think you’ll need at least a Nehru style jacket. It is worn by Dr. No, Blofeld, Stromberg, Drax and I’m probably leaving out a few more Bond villains that also choose that type of jacket. (it’s the Dr. Evil look) When you’ve got your hands on a Nehru jacket just choose your favourite bad guy.

go as a villian, everyone else will go as bond.

i remember having a bond theme house party and everyone dressed up like they were going to a ball. :))

and think about it, if you go as blofeld and take a stuffed white cat, you can go round asking all the nice birds "if i let you stroke my pussy, can i stroke yours?"

    instant clunge-fest. B-)

    @Minigeff

that would make for one hell of an opening line. Although I think the most common reaction would be a punch in the face or a poke in the eye, by then you can only go as Largo.

Or just an all black dinnerjacket, black shirt and tie and some pokerchips. Instant Le Chiffre! Now the only thing to learn is the tumbflip and how to weep blood.

Forgot about that, but yes, that would finish the job. And maybe a blond lady who is willing to part with one of her arms for you.... Now where are you going to find that.... :s

An old adage from my Air Force days was that if you used said line or similar to 100 girls in an evening you might get your face slapped 99 times ........ But you'll never go home alone ;%

I've never been in the Air Force, but I do know that some terrible lines might surprise you in their succes rate. It's all about the 'tude dude.

Hehe, thanks for the responses guys :)

Speaking of clunge-fest, I had thought of a play on the "Octopussy" link, but my wife thought it might have been bad taste.

I'll keep my thinking hat on. In the meantime, if anyone knows of a prosthetic pincer arm going spare, let me know!

    Cheers

Sometmes a subtle change of appearance can work too.

A couple of years ago I had to take part in a works competition, where teams had to represent different films. Our team luckily got the Bond franchise. I was flattered that my Boss pointed at me when he told us, and said "Connery!" I now have a beard, and I like to think I could do a passable version of Drax.

    - Findus I agree with Peppermill, choose a Villian you like and you could either resemble, or do a decent version of your own. - You could have a look at our friends from The Double-O Club as inspiration! (Hope you don't mind the plug Ics!)

Whatever you decide to do in the end, let us know the results!
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

    Ahhhh Thunderbird 2

I don’t mind – didn’t know we were ”famous”… but have a look around the webpage for villain inspiration…

Fez guy from Diamonds are Forever:

    GW121H121

Parodied more memorably by Will Ferrell, as Mustafa in Austin Powers:

    25-funniest-will-ferrell-characters-20090601003807427.jpg

If you already have the suit, then all you need are the shades and a fez. Pretty memorable, and pretty cheap.

    Hehe, looks good!

I've decided to go as Gobinda from Octopussy... helped somewhat by my own skintone and experiences of people's perceptions of me (I'll say no more on that one! 8-) )

Can someone confirm if he's wearing more of a silk Nehru jacket number or a proper item of Indian clothing (i.e. a Sherwani)? I'm going more off the Google image search of him holding a blunderbuss type thing rather than actually watching the film!

    Cheers
