Omega out, Rolex in!

Hi All
Despite my love for DCs Bond movies I have sold my remaining two Omega Seamaster watches and bought a second Rolex (GMT Master II / 116710LN) which compliments my Submariner (16610) very nicely. Although I think Omega make some excellent quality and attractive watches I think Rolex has the edge.
I wonder how many members here (like me) would love to see Bond go back to wearing a Rolex?

I totally agree, and that's the bottom line. My question, however, is how many here would like to see a return to Rolex rather than the probability of it happening.

Stick the guy in a Bentley Continental convertible, please.
And any chance of Bond himself going back to being over six feet, dark and handsome?
So 0-3 then: as 'Toys says, some manufacturers pay £££s. And some short blondies MAKE'EM ALL £££sss.
Re. Rolex: I have been bashed before on WUS for it: In my opinion, especially the friction pin construction from the Omega SS bracelets is inferior and as long as they are sticking with it, I can't take them as serious as Rolex - though the CR Planet Ocean watch is a VERY good watch!
In my life, I went thru several watch stages: I first had Rolex, then I purchased all the other brands and even sold my Rolexes. Then I went completely to Omega, sold them all and am back to Rolex again. And I think, that I'll stay here.

After TND I almost brought an omega seamaster in an airport once, and it felt a hell of a lot inferior in quality. I'll stick to the Rolex for as long as it works.

I honestly cannot say what would suite Craigs Bond more than the Planet Ocean at present. The older Subs would have done the job too, but not the newer ones. Maybe if we saw him with a more personal watch rather than the latest brand wanting to promote their new models. That would be nice.
I'd like to see Bond in a Bentley too. Pity the marque has lost its roots though.
Can anyone really suggest this monstrosity can even hold it's nose up against these beauties?...
As ASP correctly admits bentley (after a desperate attempt to regain them with that immortal win at le Mans) has lost it's roots and become a cartoon of it's former self.
Which reminds me of what the Bentley GTC reminds me of when ever I see it...

Back to topic, and while I have always loved the Rolex, the Oceans are perfect for the modern DC-Bond....
That said, again, ASP spot on - free the timepiece from beckhamization and make it talk tempo!...
i'm a GE lad ya see, apologies to all the 'literature bond' fans.

I personally do not own any watch (it's quite a hard thing to do, actually) as I am saving for a complicated Patek. To me, there is nothing else worth wearing, and it has ALWAYS been a great pain to see that James Bond was settling for some middle-range watch that is sold in every airport and that has some intrinsic value or research, but still, it's no Patek. Breguet or Lange would've been fine too. But I'm not saying everyone should drop more than 10,000$ on a watch, I'm just saying that James Bond should and that I prefer not to have any watch than anything else.
Jeez.
Never heard of this... I don't think people save money to buy a Patek...
you can save money to buy food or a toy or a watch ... but you don't save money to buy a Patek or Aston Martin for that matter
Aston Martin is also in the book (DB4, if I remember correct) – so let him continue to drive Aston (please never again BMW etc)

Ditto what ASP said with one caveat. The Bentleys that Bond drove in the novels were older, not brand spanking new. The later "locomotive" had a bent chassis that was straightened and a new convertible body put on. So Bond should be driving an older personal car. Perhaps that's why he's driving the DB5 that he won at poker. However, in real life the DB5 would be handled as a seized vehicle, that Bond might be able to drive, but it would not be owned by him. The moment it got too expensive to repair it would be gone.

Bond wouldn't wear one of these. The Rolex subs and Brietlings were chosen for their rugged class. Action men watches for action men who can still use the correct cutlary. The Omegas fit this bill also. I fear a Bond in a patek would still be seated at the dining table during the action sequences. )
I have also never heard of anyone saving up for a Patek. You can or you can't. You pay cash or you get credit which you can afford to pay off, but at no time do you ever have to save. Your whole life must need a lot more in it before saving for a watch like this. 8-)

Mine got five different countdowns I can set for five separate missions - Ebay sniping at its best )
And it would add a little complexity and refinement to Craig persona, imop, which is a little bit too brash and simple. Personally my favorite is the Omega seamaster from Goldeneye in Quartz- which I own right next to my Colt .45
The British Government issued Royal Navy divers with Rolex Submariners for many years. They switched to the cheaper CWC Divers Watch some years ago but considering the cost of military equipment the price of a Submariner is tiny.
And Bond was ex-Royal Navy was he not? Oh and a diver... )

Normal people buy Patek. What you said is just not true. And I definitely would not get credit to buy a watch. And obviously I have the money (it's not a condo, it's still a watch), but it's more of a mind-thing. You want to start saving to buy a watch you want. It builds up the desire and you don't use the money already saved up or you don't have to sell your shares.
nothing 'wrong' with saving up or buying a watch on finance. the trouble is though, some people don't do their sums first, or take into account that one day that watch will need servicing which aint cheap.

Here are my little babies:
Seiko SKX007 - I absolutely love this watch, maybe not a true Bond watch even though he wore Seikos (Roger Moore as Bond) - it is an absolutely great looking Dive watch.
Omega Seamaster Professional 300m (2220.80.00)
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean (45.5mm)
Rolex Submariner.
Actually mate, if that is the listed Omega SMP in the pic, it isn't the 2220.80.00. That version is the Co-Axial version while (if yours is automatic) yours is the earlier 2531.80 worn by Brosnan in all his films other than GoldenEye. Cheers
