Necros walkman….model ?

icsics Posts: 1,413MI6 Agent
Well most here knows that I love the Dalton movies so I was wondering about Necros walkman

We all know that Necros was using the walkman headset as a garrotte but I was wondering what walkman he was using (playing: “Where Has Everybody Gone”).

Well anyway by studying the movie I found that when Necros enter the kitchen you can see the walkman (briefly) …only scene I could finde

Necroswalkman.jpg

After researching Sony walkmans at the time I found that the one that looks most the part is:

WM-F15 (1984, a bit old)

WM-F15.png

Any others who have info or information on the walkman ??? or do you think it is WM-F15 ? or was it special made for the movie (There is something about the blue line on the screen shot I don’t like on the WM-F15 model)

(here list of sony vintage walkman: http://www.walkmancentral.com/list/walkman)

    Not sure.
Was all product placement not done by PHILIPS? ?:)

Christof…I am not sure either, but if we talk walkman the Sony is the company that used them… Phillips did only very few!! And I can’t find any whole looks the part.
We all know that the key-ring was from Phillips… but the walkman ??? I don’t know…
    Others who have any information?

Ian you mention that blue line on the left corner of the walkman,
i think it's those ad stickers manufacturers placed on walkmans.
Btw, do you have any screens of the headphones, could be
useful to identify the brand ?

Ian, just looked one pic of Necros before he kills Saunders, it looks like headphones are....Sony ;)

But looking at those HD images of the player, those looks like Panasonic...

Why why why why why would they use a Panasonic.. ohhhhh “#&%(&( (perhaps because they just had one at the set ??)

I have to look at all the brands !! to find it…

A least Teppo the headset is sony

Ian, Panasonic was one of the early "walkman" brands, i took quick tour on eBay and there are some similarities.

But then again - I think at the time Matsushita made some decks for many brands :s

Teppo – you know what is fun… I regard this walkman just as important in a collection as the “Philips key ring finder” (almost as the key ring finder as is the top TLD prop) – the “smert spionam” carbine – the tasco, the the the – and nobody has looked into it before… or posted about it…

Well we have contacted some “walkman electronic nerds” to help…don’t know what the will end up with… but question remains why use a Sony headset if not a sony walkman ??? hummmm

Just to confuse guys like us :)) Damn prop masters :v :D It could be Sony player, i'm not denying that.
Do you remember, when those players came to market and there were those protective transparent stickers on the deck of the portable player...

Also looking at those images, i think there's no AM/FM radio on that model... :s

Exactly – just to confuse – and we all look at the movie to find small frames of the prop trying to identify that dam thing… Just wonder why they wouldn’t use a Sony…Sony was famous for there walkmans and in addition involved with the Bond movies…

To quote from the movie “I am in the dark just as much as you are”…. In time we will get this strait.

But this is exactly the thrill of the hunt - When you discover the brand, you need to find the exact model etc.
and when you finally find the exact item - you need to find something else :)) There's no cure for this disease :))

Exactly – it is a disease with no cure…and the research is also the most fun part about it.

The F15 is already to old… why use an old model…the movie was made in 1986 (released in 1987) and the F15 model is from 1984 soooo ?:)

Exactly – but Philips was not known in the walkman world (later in the Discman, but that is another story) Philips did some walkmans but I cant find a extensive list… and you are sure about the headphones being Sony ?

No, not 100% sure :# We need to dig down deep, because if we
track the right player we also can identify the headphones and vice versa.

And it seems that when Necros eliminates Saunders in Vienna, you
can see some text on his headphones - it looks Sony, but to be honest i'm not sure anymore :s

In AVTAK many PHILIPS products were shown. But the KGB used a SONY Sports walkman.
Looked in a Philips 1987 catalogue, nothing in there that resembles Necros Walkman. I think it is a SONY.

Hi Christof – what about the 1986 catalogue – the movie was made that year, and I do recall that the safe house scene was one of the first that was shot.

Christof – thanks for the info – if it was a Philips it would probably have been next the photos in your catalogue… Back to research :)
