PICTURES UP! Casino Royale Poker Cufflinks Order - 5244 Replicas

MacMac Glasgow, ScotlandPosts: 143MI6 Agent
I contacted a company in the UK about making replicas of the S.T. Dupont 5244 cufflinks - A.K.A. the cufflinks Bond wore in Casino Royale playing poker.

Their starting price is £400 for bespoke cufflinks, but I contacted them and said with enough orders if we could get the price down to between £100-£200. I believe this is possible but I'm still waiting for confirmation. If you're willing to take part - providing the price is right - let me know in this thread. I'll try and take a count each day.

There's another thread in which I will try to get measurements and clear pictures, however this thread is primarily for numbers.

The cufflinks will be an exact copy (I hope) and in hallmarked sterling silver.

Just so we are clear, these are the cufflinks that are going to be reproduced:

I received an email from the bespoke cufflinks company saying that they would have no problem doing these cufflinks, but they mentioned nothing about price. So in my reply to them I did ask again.

If the price is right, I am definitely in. But 600$ for basic not-platinum doesn't sound like a good deal. I bought the 40$ version on eBay, when I receive them I'll post pictures.

That's why I hope to get it down to between £100-£200 if we can buy in bulk. These sort of companies will make one off moulds and then throw them away. However with us, they will get plenty of uses out of the single mould.

The $40 version is platinum-plated! These are solid sterling silver.

I would be very interested in sterling silver if near the lower end of the estimate.

I would want to see close-up pics of the production pieces first before committing to an order. ;%

Measurements have been sent to the company.

Once one set is made (3-4 weeks) I'll post close up pictures and we can proceed from there.

I bought a copy on eBay from seller Costumebase (50,000 sells), based in Singapore. Arrived in 2 weeks. About 35 USD.

However, the proportions are not good and they feel very cheap when you have them in your hands. The finish looks like plastic and looks like it's going to be scratched very soon. It screams cheap shiny plastic more than mat platinum metal quality. Still, for the price, I'd recommend them, but I can't wait to get something that looks more like it.

As the old saying goes: "You get what you pay for."

I received an email from the cufflink company and they said that £150-£200 would be a very realistic pricing. Moreover, they said it would depend of the 'fitting' - the back of the cufflink that holds the shirt cuffs together. This is the one he proposed to use:

    RJ_swivels.jpg

If people would rather go with the S.T. Dupont style of fitting, he can make a mould for that too.

Were the real ones in solid silver, plated silver, plated platinum, solid platinum, or something else? Do they know what the finish woud look like? Because the first picture of the thread has some kind of a mat (not shiny) finish

The real ones were palladium to the best of my knowledge. At different angles the cufflinks look polished, so I would think all sides are and it's just the light.

Do you know what sides are brushed and what are polished? If so, I can email that to the cufflink maker.

Thank you for the clear up.

I believe that on the real S.T. Dupont cufflinks, different sides & faces have either a matte or shiny finish, so it is not uniform for the whole cufflink.

EDIT: Nevermind, Asp9mm beat me to it. I probably should have noticed the second page of replies. Oops.
