I am not sure about that, but will contact PayPal to ask. Fees are 4% (IIRC) so it would equate to less than £10 per set. No one as of yet has asked for a refund apart from TomSawyer, so we could perhaps encounter that bridge if we need to cross it. I’m not too worried about the PayPal fees and I’m sure if someone asks for a refund down the line and the fees are non-refundable we could split them 50/50 or find another amicable solution.
Yes, he made the first prototype and agreed to do it all at the same price. On the subject of price and shopping around, I went to four silversmiths in the city of Glasgow—the original home of commerce in Scotland—and the cheapest price I was quoted for 15 sets was £245 each.
I have agreed with the Silversmith that all orders in the USA will be shipped from him to them to avoid those fees. He will probably ship to Canada too—which I believe is where Simon is at but I’m not sure if there are applicable fees from the USA to Canada, as I’ve only ever shipped from the UK to Canada. I suspect there might be though. The rest will come straight to me and I will ship them out, so orders in Europe won’t be subject to fees from me. The majority of orders are in the USA so that should be fine, but I have added on a small fee to every set which is included in the £196 to cover shipping, any fees and my time. So, in reality, nobody (except maybe Simon in Canada) would be subject to fees as most orders are in the USA and UK, to the best of my knowledge. However, that all depends on the US company declaring the price of each pair as £196, they might not.
Just one info: The counterpart of the dummy does not look like it goes comfortably thru a cuffhole - especially as it's fixed.
Plus I am not sure, if you can go around copyright issues by simply varying the dimensions. I'd say it still violates but others may come to other conclusions.

My man in the US said it is fine, and if anything is a little small. The counterpart is 50% of the front and he said he would rather have it at 60% or 70%.
I did speak to a friend who is a lawyer and he said providing we change the back and the proportions, we should be fine as it would only be based on the cufflinks and our interpretation, instead of a full-blown replica. Of course, that is only an opinion.
Firstly, as the mantis said , this was a joy to wake up to on a Sunday morning.
This affair absorbed a lot of my free time yesterday such that I'm in hot water with the wife and completely forgot another obligation - apols to them.
Whilst impressed with macs response, I'm delighted with the replies so far.
They are all positive in thought, and many echo the long tradition of constructive criticism and commeradery that IS AjB..
Mac missed a few people, one of which has been given a terrible press by many, including me, perhaps unfairly.
Nms75 has been consistent in his desire for those who paid good money to either get a set of cuffs they can enjoy or full refunds and it's probably due to his persistence that mac has decided to clarify what was his intent throughout.
I'll shut up here, except to say that the low fruit have been picked and now comes the really hard bit.
Delivery.
I'm certain things will get tough again and mistakes will yet be made, but I hope that this experience will linger in all ajb members memories and guide their response to such challenges in the future.
Well done Mac.

I've been asked by Mac to close this thread.
He is going to open another thread to continue this project from a fresh start....and to try and clear himself from a couple of issues that remain...nothing sinister....just a bit of cleaning up....

It's great to read plans, options and ideas starting to flow now - and well done Mac for embracing the true spirit of AJB.

It will take a while to get a mock up done, but this is roughly what I had in mind, using actual links as "props" for my terrible photoshopping...
It is NOT intended to use the actual cufflink shapes exactly, as we have discussed previously.
This image is to give a rough idea only, for discussion purposes.
I'd really welcome feedback, esp from those who paid, but others please add your very welcome constructive comments.
BTW the ratio of the back to front might have to be greater to ensure the back passes through a standard double cuff shirt, as Bondtoys mentioned.

You couldn't shut people up on this thread before, now the new photo is posted and there isn't a comment for almost a week.
Where did everyone go?
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Yes. It'd be nice, but it's just not the new prototype..
Thx HoS...yes we said we'd await comments and have done so..
The silence has been deafening though and not what we intended.
But the project needed some serious repair and were still inn the process of accomplishing that.
Watch this space over next few days.
However I'd still appreciate some comments (thx Bruno) on the "scratch" link.
Cheers
I am waiting for the new prototype with great expectations!
Shame we got very little in the way of feedback.
But I take it that as a sign of approval.
There will be an update very shortly, though mainly of the administrative variety.
Toutbrun there is plenty of time to join up.
Cheers
