As the old saying goes: "You get what you pay for."
I received an email from the cufflink company and they said that £150-£200 would be a very realistic pricing. Moreover, they said it would depend of the 'fitting' - the back of the cufflink that holds the shirt cuffs together. This is the one he proposed to use:
If people would rather go with the S.T. Dupont style of fitting, he can make a mould for that too.
I'm fine with this type of fitting...although I wouldn't mind a quote for the S.T. Dupont fitting just for comparison.

I gave words to exactly that effect to the cufflink company. I'll let you know.
No, I'm still waiting back on a response from the cufflink company. He said they're swamped at the moment and may take longer to reply than expected. I'll keep this thread updated. Would you like me to add your name to the list in the meantime?
We're not copying their designs per se, we're merely basing it from theirs. Like I said in a previous thread: A guy who makes a nice chair doesn't owe money to everyone who has ever built a chair.
I think I'll start taking payment (via PayPal) after the new year. It will be a 3-4 week wait and the more people we can get on this, the cheaper it will be. However, the price will definitely fall between £100-£200 -- that much has been agreed upon.

Sorry, but that's a very naive perspective. It's totally different in the real world.
It's not that you are doing ANY cufflink, you are exactly copying a copyrighted item from a very nervous brand in terms of copyrights.
To come back to your chair comparison: It may be legal to produce a chair but the fun ends, if you are copying a Le Corbusier model

Well a lot of people copy these chair or the Louis Ghost (Stark, 2002) chair and get away with it.
If you can't trust a Swiss banker, what's the world come to?
...the fine print says, that most of these fakers are in regions, where the legal system does not really work. And you?
As you think to know it better - please move on, you have been warned......
If you google "Casino Royale ST Dupont cufflinks" this thread is already in the top 10, so, it can't be long....

have to say bondtoys is usually right on these topics
I noticed the drawing has 007 on the bottom - tgt that was a definite no-no
and I think we'd all be happier is you made an "adjustment" to the cufflinks
to ensure the rights of the company are preserved.
Firstly, we are using a different fitting on the cufflinks.
Secondly, the measurements have been altered slightly per the ones I received from a forum member and what the cufflink company recommended.
Thirdly, there will be no copyrighted logos of any kind on these cufflinks.
Fourthly, there are a copy of the 5244 cufflinks on eBay -- albeit a terrible copy, but a copy nonetheless -- and they have sold over 140 pairs and are yet to be pulled.
Finally, I know you're selling the 'real' version of these cufflinks Bondtoys so who knows what agenda you have. However, Tom Ford isn't suing Mr Magnoli for using his patterns on their ties, is he? Lighten up.
Copyright is a serious and thorny issue. However, providing enough minor alterations (as outlined above) are done to conform to the law then I see no problem with these cufflinks.
Forgive me for raising the issue earlier in this thread but it is an important one to bear in mind. That said it does not mean the project shouldn't go ahead - it just needs to be done so with this issue in mind.
In many ways I will agree on Bondtoys here regarding design/copyright and patent violation… You can however break the copyright and patent violation for internal use but you are not and I repeat not aloud to sell them without an approval or licensing.
Okay, the price is finalised at £196 shipped to your location.
If everyone could please let me know that that's alright, so I can get back to the company and give them the go ahead. It's a 50% deposit at the start, and 50% on completion.

Is this a one off run? Will you have a prototype to display?
Can't commit until firm price
I don't think there will be a prototype to display, but the end product will look very close to what it should.
I'll add your name to the list, anyway.

I was hoping to get around 30 people to get this project off and running, but if we can get to 15-20, we should be good to go.
Any more?
