Update : As I wrote to Mac, I would prefer to see them first, and I'm not sure about the craftmanship and the metal used. So I won't participate at the moment.

I suggest Mac and all those who can, buy a second copy, so that you can later sell them to those who weren't on the board or couldn't buy them now.

I'm sure they will be good and that everyone is pleased.

But 300$ for not metal identical, no references craftmanship and no resell value is not sure enough for me. We don't even have the measures of the real cuffs.

This is why I won't buy them at the moment. If they turn out great, I will happily buy a copy.

    Bruno,

You seem to be grossly uninformed. We do have accurate measurements from an original set and a prototype set are being made for me. We will get these right, and they will be just about perfect.

So you wont buy unless you see them first but recommend other people buy two??

I'm buying these for my own personal use...not to make the massive profit that some people around here seek on eBay for certain ties and scarves. As such, and based on everything that Mac has said, I am sure I will be very happy and I believe the others who are benefitting from Mac's efforts will be also.

You could simply resell them at the price you paid your extras (which would lower the cost for everyone). Thanks you for my publicity, BTW.

Emails have been sent out requesting payment.

Sample should be done in just under a week.

All sounds great. Especially if the cuffs and collars match.

Would you like a set too? There's still time to make an order, if you so wish.

Hey guys, I'm gonna opt out of this one as I don't want to commit without seeing even a picture of the cufflinks beforehand. Appreciate all the hard work and effort that has gone into getting these done and I will probably kick myself later when I do see them but I have been stung before. No hard feelings huh?
  • MacMac Glasgow, ScotlandPosts: 143MI6 Agent
Through PayPal, it protects the buyer for six weeks. These should be done in less than four. Moreover, the measurements are accurate, there will be a sample run and any adjustments that are needed will be made at that stage.

There are no reasons to opt out of this if you are unsure of the final product.

I appreciate that but would still like to opt out this time. I will have a look in a couple of weeks to see how they turned out.
    Cheers.

Its tragic - that is why I never go this route - I just funded the whole damn project myself and am free to do what I want on my own schedule. I also have been burned before on deal like this - still waiting on a few items that are fully paid to be delivered - well, its only had been two - three years :D
  • MacMac Glasgow, ScotlandPosts: 143MI6 Agent
Well I have no intention of burning people. It's just the more people I can get on board, the cheaper I will get a set.

Cufflinks should be done by the end of March, so I will have pictures by then. One week delivery to the UK, then I ship all sets out to you. I might be able to get pictures of the sample which are to be finished in a few days.

Don't give up. It's always difficult to make these orders. I tried to make a T&A order for the members and after 8 pages it didn't work out.

It's just that it's hard for us - for me - to commit : we don't have any example of the quality of the cufflinks that they have done before, we don't have the contact information of the company, we don't know for sure the aspect and feeling of what it's going to look like, etc.

Then don't bloody commit in the first place! ?:) Now I'm going to be out of pocket because your indecisive.

I'd be very careful with statements like this

First of all, consider the copyright! If you copy the main design, you may run into trouble.
Secondly, in my experience, such projects almost never match perfectly, except Texas or Pete/MG are involved.

I can fully understand people who want to see first, for what they are paying for, however I understand from the timeline of this project, that this is not possible.

    Just my 2 cents.

Bondtoys, we have been through all of this before. :#

I will try to make an accurate reproduction of the cufflinks with a few differences that won't infringe on copyrights.

And since you've never gone through any project like this with me, how about you reserve your unprecedented judgement until they are finished?

While I like this project (putting aside copyright issues for moment) I can't commit £200 to purchase an item I haven't even seen a picture of yet - sorry!
