    You are absolutely correct.

We'll see how your cufflinks turn out.

But be prepared, that I remind you, if you can't keep up with your own standards ;) (and if you can, it'll be a blatant ripoff :D )

    This sounds very tempting!

What is the price, and how could I send the money?

    Hope it's not to late.
  • MacMac Glasgow, ScotlandPosts: 143MI6 Agent
For one pair it's £196. Please send payment to payment@macguitars.co.uk.

    Thank you! -{

    I just sent my payment.

I too am very nervous sending £196 ($325.00) without having seen anything. I paid about the same for the Madagascar Shirt, and that was after seeing photos and rounds of discussion on the details.

But... I did commit before hand, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Received this email from my guy:

"Turns out they just sent it [the sample] today. Don't worry, I'm on it and will keep you updated promptly.

Sample should be the exact same as the final product, except it's cast in brass instead of silver. I should receive it tomorrow."

    Pictures tomorrow or the day after. -{

It's in hollowed brass for money saving purposes, but you get the idea. Obviously this isn't perfect, so I want your input on what you would like changed.

I would like to see a thinner edge, a larger back and a few other tweaks. Please let me know your thoughts. I am probably going to have one more sample, then we'll get the real thing as these aren't as close as I would like them to be.

If you would like to see more pictures, please ask.

Hey Mac...I assume the finished article will be solid silver and not hollow (I know you mention that this is hollowed brass to save money...but just double-checking!)?
  • MacMac Glasgow, ScotlandPosts: 143MI6 Agent
Yes, the finished article will be solid silver. The brass is hollow to save money and time on the sample.

It seems there's two models of the coffin cufflink, which may explain the poor prototype. I was working off measurements of the below cufflinks while using pictures of the proper Casino Royale cufflinks. I'm on it.

The cufflinks I was using measurements from:

Funny, that's the entirely wrong model!

The criticism is rather childish. Mac is making an effort to complete a project that a number of people are interested in. He is working to improve the design and is open to constructive suggestions. It's always easy to sit on the sidelines, do nothing and criticise those on the field. The mark of a low achiever.
  • HigginsHiggins GermanyPosts: 16,619MI6 Agent
erm, which part of my remark - that he was referring to the wrong model - was unconstructive?

And after seeing the so-called prototype, I was under the impression, that neither him nor "his man" had any idea, what they are doing and I stand with it.

Just a reminder, that Mac was the one taking money here by saying, that the job will be done perfectly - it was not me!

I was pointing out the problem of copyright but Mac took it obviously as easy as the accuracy of that prototype.

He even asked me yesterday by pm for pics and dimensions of the correct cufflinks - everyone draw his own conclusion how profound his research has gone yet

    Bondtoys,

I never claimed to be perfect or some mogul-angel-king when it came to cufflinks or James Bond—I am just a fan. I saw a hole in the James Bond market and have attempted to fill it by helping people. You've been making childish chips at me from the start—some valid I grant you, but some not. I will do the best possible work I can for this project and you clearly know (or are at least pretend to) know your stuff, so I seeked your help. Not only to help me, but to help the ten or so people who have ordered cufflinks on this forum.

The success of this project depends on the help I get from more knowledgable people than I, which I thought you were of.

Disclosing private messages from me to you is ostensibly just another childlish thing of yours, which I will take no notice of.

If you want to help, do so. But please, stay out of this thread if you're aren't going to help and are just proffering throwaway quips whilst looking for a laugh.

And just to make it clear: I am happy to help people out but not for the purpose of your attemps to start faking copyrighted items.

So far, every "chip" from my side became reality so every one of them has been valid yet!

The edges are too thick, too round, the inside is bad, and it does not look (shape) like the ST Dupont one.
I'm glad I resisted to the peer-pressure on buying those.

I bought a 30$ copy on eBay, even though it they are a bit cheaper, they look more like the real thing.

It should look like a rectangular from the top (even size on each side).

And the thing to clip it is not as beautiful as the one ST Dupont used. That should be changed imperatively.

I think the copyright issue is an important one but judging by the brass prototype pics I don't think S.T.Dupont will have any sleepless nights... :))
