These will be coated or plated with something, silver tranishes that is why people have to clean it :D

Some will, sure, but they'll say so if they are. Many will just be highly polished silver as it's brighter than a plating. Either way, rhodium or other platings will wear off in time through polishing and general wear. The best way to keep silver from tarnishing is to actually wear it and to keep it polished. They're not going to turn your cuffs black throughout the day unless they're already tarnished when you put them on. Are you gonna put on tarnished cufflinks?

Also, you could always have them rhodium plated. Pretty quick electroplating process. I prefer keeping the sterling polished.

And for anyone that thinks they want them in solid platinum, you might check the prices of solid platinum cufflinks.

    Okay. Disturbing. British thing?

Not sure if you're serious or not so I'll point out that they don't take quite that much maintenance. Not even close really. But if you're worried, get to it.

I have a sense of humor, it only requires that something be funny. ;)

I was talking about the picture specifically though. I'm sure whatever it's from we'll rip it off and make a less funny version within a couple of years.

I loved the first series with Chris Morris, he is easily one of the funniest satirists alive today. Fav episode has to be 'the work outing'.

NB: Sorry for hijacking the thread, i'll shut up now.

Maybe the firm that was chosen is just not the best choice. For 300$, they are supposed to know what they are doing! If they have to much experience, why such a lazy first try?

Perhaps if some people have heard of other makers, we could discuss that.

They could probably do the same thing in China for less than 100$.

I said I would contact all members privately to avoid the snark. If you have a question, shoot me a PM.
  • nms75nms75 United KingdomPosts: 1,233MI6 Agent
I would have thought it wise to make things public after all the questions etc. asked above. However, going behind the scenes to have 'private' talks leaves these unanswered for most members who have posted in this thread.

Yes, members who have put money into this project I have contacted and have discussed all issues.

I have had a PM from a fellow member and received very promising news that should get this project off and running again if it is correct. I am still waiting to confirm but I am hopeful.

Not sure, Mac if it's a wise decision to stay now undercover.

I am aware, that you don't like my criticism but so far I regard it to be constructive in parts.
Have I told you, that I am in the jewellery business now for 28 years - so you can take granted that I know exactly, what I am talking about.

If you stay private, you won't get any input - even it may be very troublesome to hear the truth.
I have some valuable additional comments on your dummies - your bad if you take further progress off the board. {:)

Yes, Bondtoys, I regard much of your comments to be constructive. However like I said I'm getting bored of the snark.

If you do have valuable additional comments, you can share them on this or you can send me a PM. I don't want to hear how these prototypes are terrible—I know that.

I will comment on new prototypes - when I see them.

Since this is now a "SECRET" project known to only a few in private perhaps it is time to close the thread?

    Mods:

    I advise not.

Mac has re-engaged and the level of background noise has died down.

Ajb threads have in the past been well moderated and remained civil.

No reason why this should be different.

    Cheers

YOU MISS THE POINT! :s He is now taking this project OFF foum (or rather behind the scenes) and not making it public. This is a public forum and he should continue to keep us updated PUBLICLY! Sadly he IS NOT re-engaging with us since he has effectively gone underground. It is my belief he has something to hide!

Exactly MY POINT! You are now doing this in private on a PUBLIC forum! You have left many unanswered questions and you wish to avoid answering them!

You have taken £1600 off AJB members and as yet completely failed to deliver what you promised in a reasonble timeframe. I am sorry but as an AJB community member I feel I am within my rights to want to know where this project is now heading!

Thread will not be edited, moved or closed. We believe that as adults we can continue conversations of this nature, usually to positive fruition. To close it now would only create a negative moment...and the creator of the post has asked to continue. Let's give the gent the deference of some time and perseverance.
