Future Bond villains

I want to see who fans think could portray an interesting and credible adversary for 007 in a future film. I would love to see Idris Elba cast as a Bond villain. I have seen Elba act in many projects, from the sublime ("The Wire", "Luther", "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency") to the mediocre ("The Losers", "Takers") to the ridiculous ("Obsessed"), and he is always interesting to watch. He can be charming, suave, intense, and menancing. Plus he projects the intelligence that I think would be absolutely crucial to his believability as a worthy opponent for Bond. Elba is physically imposing as well, which could make for a terrific fight scene between his villain and Bond. Who are some of the actors (or actresses) you folks would like to see match wits with Bond?
"Felix Leiter, a brother from Langley."

Indeed, Mr Zane was Cal Hockley in that film.
John Malcovich is a great actor, but if I thinkof him and "Bond villian" I immediatlrey picture his potrayal of Pascal Savage in Johnny English I! In the same vein I fell about laughing when Tim Piggot-Smith appreaded in QoS. - Its not the actos fault, but I could picture him holding two dossiers - The J Bond Problem, and the J English problem and yeling at M accordingly!
I am stumped when I think of casting. There are so many good actors out there, but one thing I am not really wanting to see is another Max Zorin / Dominic Greene type character, someone too contemporary relying on the "bit unstable" aspect tacked on. The Bond baddies are always better when slightly larger than life. Many give Moonraker a bad press as a film, (personally I love it) but Michael Longsdale gave a fantastic underplayed potrayal as Drax. Sophie Marceaux was sexy and sadistic as Electra King - and mad as buscuits in a vengeful damaged goods way too. Wonderful stuff!
- Damn too slow in posting again!! (re last pic)

I would like it if he were a real sociopath. He starts out as right hand man and then he would usurp power from the main villian. They would definetly need a good script to tailor to Williams' talents and not have him as just have as another "stuffed shirt" addressing his henchmen and wanting to kill "Mr. Bond".
I think it's time to have some older guys as villains again; it's been too long. Some of the best top baddies, IMO, have represented a particular archetype---the twisted 'father figure': Doctor No, Goldfinger, Blofeld, Stromberg, Drax---someone who will tell Bond that he's the equivalent of a stupid child in over his head... :007) At any rate, that's definitely what I was going for when I wrote Blood & Ashes.

Bond’s Beretta
The Handguns of Ian Fleming's James Bond
Yeah, I think it's time for something like that...it'll help Bond stand out (as he deserves to!) from a crowded field of action films/franchises.

That would be a good idea for a future villian.
The reboot! - It could be used to introduce someone established in the books, but not into the films that we have seen before. For example the beautiful Miriam D'abo was Kara Milov in The Film The Living Daylights, - but the novel's "Cello girl" Trigger, has not been used. So thats one character, a musical sniper to boot - still waiting in the wings for the new universe?
Ditto Colonel Von Hamerstien from For Your Eyes Only, or Maria Freudenstein from from Property of a Lady. - A short story that could in itself, be used for a couple of tense scenes.
For more "unusual" Bond villians, how about delving into the James Bond Junior back catalogue? Ok it would be dangerous and wrong to recreate say Odd-Job or Jaws - they are icons. But how about Dr Derange, - a kind of evil and insane Professor Hawking, aided by Scullcap - reminiscent of both Oddjob and Schandler, but with development optential for something different. Or - perhaps this would work best, Ms Fortune with Snuffer in tow, doing all the bumping off? - I always saw Ms Fortune as a JBJ potential for the films, evil versions of Penny and Parker, with the Flemming twist. If the Quantum thread is kept, she could be a media / society high flier helping Quantum raise its financial power?
- however, his eyes are ruthless and his calibre of acting is superb.....
There is also Patrick Stewart, but I think he's a bit too mainstream.
I do like the idea of Billy Zane...don't like him personally, BUT he would make a great Bond villain, someone who is just a suave as Bond (or at least thinking he is....) would add a certain something.
I think Steve Buscemi could play a villian of some type as well.

I think Buscemi could be quite good as the sacrificial lamb contact who first greets Bond on his mission.
I can't see either of them fitting well. They haven't done anything to warrant playing a strong central villian.
He's definetly "head of Quantum" of material.

And then there was one less on the forum *BLAM !*. )
I like this choice. Very much so. And may I suggest Marcus Dixon from Alias as a baddie? Actor who played Dixon is Carl Lumbly. There are many who have been on Alias who would be great both as Bond villains or as Bond allies. All have clearly proved their talent in being spies (Lumbly played one of the spies and he was great at that on Alias, in action scenes, too) or being villains. David Anders is another one who was a great villain as Sark on Alias. And he was very Bond-like on Alias, too. Fine wines, nice suits, women, refined taste in general. David Anders can also do a very good British accent so he could also serve as a traitor at MI6 for example.
Rutger Hauer was also a great guest star villain on Alias, but too old now. I would love to see Kevin Spacey as a Bond villain, but I doubt he'd ever do it. Too famous and also too incline to doing "serious" movies ever to be involved in Bond. But, one can dream )
I don't see why Spacey would rule out a Bond. He was Lex Luthor in Superman Returns which wasn't a very serious role. Also EON usually dosen't care how famous an actor since they wouldn't really interfere with their agenda. Who they wouldn't hire with a lot of clout is a director because they would see it as their film and not just a "journey man" being hired to do a job. As for Rutger Hauer again, I don't see why not. Bond villians don't always have to engage Bond in physical combat and they certaintly don't need to be young.
Have you seen Seven ? If not, see it. Spacey was excellent in it.
I had no idea Spacey was a bit of a Bond fan. In that case, he may be persuaded to do it. Provided the producers agree to pay his fee, which would be yet another problem ) But yeah, in my opinion he'd be an excellent Bond villain. He is a great actor, and I think he really has that special "je ne sais quoi" to play villains. I don't know whether it is the expression he uses or the fact his aspect allows him to look either good or bad within seconds (because he doesn't have either the face of a nice guy or the face of a bad guy, if that makes sense? LOL). I could totally see him being the new Blofeld Agree he was brilliant in Seven, as he was in "American Beauty", and in the superb "The Usual Suspects". I just think he's too big a name for Bond, and also incline to doing other things. But as I said, he would be a dream villain for me in terms of casting. I'd love to see him in a Bond movie.
And, I maintain Carl Lumbly from Alias would also be a great choice. Idris Elba as well, as BlackLeiter suggested.
I guess Rutger Hauer (who played one incredible spy bastard on Alias )) could be some sort of chief of operations for the bad guys. He was not young when he did Alias already, so by now I think he'd have to have a "tailored" role to be believable in a Bond movie. Too old otherwise. Of course, the guy who played the super evil spy on Alias, Ron Rifkin, could also be an alternative at that point. He's like Spacey... can go from looking good guy to looking devious and evil in no time. His character on Alias was one of the most complex and well-rounded villains I've ever seen on TV.
For me Kevin Spacey's best performance was as Jack Vincennes in L.A. Confidential.
1. People who hate things.
2. Irony.
3. Lists.
Technically Kevin Spacey has already played Bloefeld. In Austin Powers 3 he had a cameo as Dr Evil (himself a parody of Bloefeld).
If he played up the more psychotic elements (ala Christopher Walken), he would be fantastic.
Se7en is one of my favourite films, largely due to Spacey.
Also he referenced his fandom in AB by complaining he would miss the Bond marathon because he was going to his daughters school routine.
