Solace Tie by Magnoli Clothiers - Do not order!

All, received mine this morning and am very very disappointed, the silk is fine but the filler/padding is way too light giving the tie the weight and feeling of cardboard I would recommend that no one buys this tie until Magnoli sorts this out and that he re-issues with a quality lining. In my opinion he should have checked the lining of the tie pre-production. Neckties should be lined with 100% wool, you will run across ties that have a lining made of a wool mixture, but remember the higher the wool content the finer the tie and I wouldn’t expect this sort of poor quality in a $60 tie, I can get a better tie for a similar pattern in TM Lewin for 30% of the cost. A decent wool lining shouldn’t be a problem for him; there are lots of sheep in New Zealand.

Do you have any other Magnoli ties?

Yes have you any other ties by Magnoli? I have four of his ties and all are fine - if the Solace tie is of the same quality I fail to see the problem. However, if it is lower quality than his other ties there will be an issue.

    NMS ?:)

Chaps, I have all the other Magnoli Craig era ties and they are fine, this is why I am shocked, this is not the same quality/weight as the others............

I would mention this to Indy, sounds like a reasonable bloke who is eager to improve on his products e.g. the Montenegro tie was the wrong dimensions and was revised after some noise from this forum!

Coincidentally I was about to order the Montenegro tie but now worried, how did you find this tie?

Montenegro tie he now sells is just fine - at least the one I had off him some months ago is very good and the correct dimensions.

Jury is still out on the Solace tie... I would like to hear from other members who have bought this tie?!

If you do order Magnoli's Montenegro tie, make sure you get the modern straight-sided one. The vintage contoured-sided one is 50% off, but apparently has very weird dimensions and ties smaller, less attractive knots.

IMO, the Montenegro tie (with correct dimensions) is absolutely gorgeous & worth every penny. It's my favourite tie in my collection!

I love my Solace tie. I have the three other QOS Magnoli ties and this one is as expected. It has a slightly different feel, but it ties the same knot and looks just as good.

I have just received this tie and to be fair the quality is not bad at all. It is slightly lighter in weight and very slightly thinner than his other "Bond" ties but not as bad as the original poster has made it out to be. The pattern is very good and the quality of the silk the same as on his other ties. The proportions/measurements are also very good. All-in-all I am quite pleased with it.

Props to Magnoli for making a blue, SILK version of the tie.

I would love to see pictures, because the tie actually looks like his best work from the swatch on the website.
