2013 Lotus Esprit in Bond 23

What do you think about it? Is there any chance that the producers will bring the 80' legend to the 007 world again? It is faster than the DBS, less powerfull, but still elegant and BRITISH. I know that thay have signed a contract with Ford for 4 movies before "Die Another Day", but Aston Martin is not Ford's property since Quantum of Solace, so...

Here is a picture I made, share your opinions.

I have always liked the Lotus appearances in the 007 movies and the Turbo Esprit is one of my all-time-favourites.

Regarding your pic: The shown Lotus is off-scale. The Aston is much larger in real life.
Lotus always had financial problems and is now ran by malaysian shareholders. I doubt, that there is enough money over to finance a 007-appearance. It is also correct, that Aston Martin no longer belongs to Ford and because of this may not appear in Bond 23, if the money comes from somewhere else.

    To cut my thoughts short:

If a car shows up in Bond 23 and there is no money involved --> Aston Martin
If a car shows up in Bond 23 and there is money involved --> a car from the Ford group or - if the contract has ended maybe from another company.

In this business, money talks and not the tradition - unfortunately

Ford still owns a small part of Aston Martin. Otherwise Ford would have to put Bond in a Ford, Lincoln or Mazda. In LTK Bond drove a Lincoln, so it wouldn't be the first time. But I doubt it would happen.

The DBS looks big just on the pictures, it is long but when it's near even a Volkswagen Golf it look small because of it's height, as far as I know the new Esprit has the same rim size and that was the point during the scaling here. Anyway - Ford has a contract still for one movie. Aston Martin is launching a DBS facelift in 2012 which looks worst than the one we know and it will probably make it's appearance in the movie if AM will be still on the 007 board.

I'd prefer him in a DB9. The DBS next to a DB9 looks too modified. Like chunky gold jewellry and tattoos on a beautiful woman - it's just not needed...

Lotus has five new cars in the pipeline, I think they all look very exciting, but I'd prefer Bond in an Aston.

the trouble is guys, the car needs to reflect on bond's character. (i actually wrote a 10,000 word dissertation on this once, sad git that i am).

when you think of bond (or at least when i do anyways) the main points for me would be elegant, powerful, sauve, sophisitcated, deadly, smooth, posh, british, well dressed and heeled, unique, exclusive, the best.

now i know im biased here as i'm a massive aston fan, but i'd say a suitable car for bond would need to reflect the majority, if not all of the above attributes. for me, aston does that, but can the same really be said for lotus these days? or bmw?

as for db9 over dbs, nah, the db9 is getting an old car these days, its also less powerful than the dbs and less exclusive.

personally my favourite is the vanquish s, it'd be nice to see aston revive that name and do an updated version for bond23, but i think if we're all honest that aint ever gonna happen.

if bonds not in an aston for bond23 then i'll be disappointed. while the db9 is getting old, the dbs been used twice, the vanquish long gone, the v8 vantage a little small for bond, and the one-77 too expensive to be practical, why not put bond in a v12 vantage?

i've said it before and i'm sticking to it, the v12 vantage would be my choice of motor for bond's 23rd outting.

As I said: Aston made a facelift for the DBS and Bond will probably drive this updated version. If someone doesn't know how it looks, here is a spy shot from DIE NORDSCHLEIFE ( :D ):

It looks uglier than the current one in my opinion.

put it this way, i'd rather see bond in an aston martin cygnet than a sodding lotus.

I was first excited to hear about the new range of cars coming from Lotus in 2014, but then I seen them! They all pretty much look the same and are squared and ugly. :( Not to mention they are ruining the Elise by adding 400 pounds! Bond should definitely have a V12 Vantage in the next movie, I just hope these new Lotus' are gonna change by the time 2014 rolls around.
Away at Boot Camp, won't be back until April the earliest.

Maybe not a V12 Vantage, it is small and looks like a 26 year aged woman. Anyway, they should really stay at the DBS, I had the Lotus idea on my mind till I was told that it is owned by some Malaysians now. Don't get me wrong, Jag and Land Rover were bought by Indians and their cars look much more better now, but you know - they've lost their British soul.

So the DB9 is too old, but the Vanquish isn't? :s

i said the db9 is too old and the vanquish long gone.

'long gone' would imply its in the past, an old design etc.

ie the db9 and the vanq are imo, too old now to be bond's next ride.

and mr z, since when did a car resemble a 26yr old female? not sure what ya trying to say with that.

By saying that I meant that the DB9 looks too, I don't know how to describe it, too "soft" maybe. It has no aggressive lines, has red rear lights which are looking much better in transparent... I just don't know. Jeremy Clarkson once said: "you must buy the DBS, because if you buy the DB9 and one of these (DBS) will stand next to you on the lights, you will feel sad and you will have to kill yourself" :D:D
