Quick show-off post as I jump into this car and head to a spy themed New Year's eve charity ball to benefit the Boys and Girls club of Santa Paula where this car will be on display:
It's a static display only since a transforming one would take a lot more fabrication time, and probably require me to cut into the car. But there is plenty of room in the back of the missile tubes for solenoid valves to hook up a compressor and have some fun with foam rubber castings and some NERF technology.
Now I just need to finish up the projects I have in the pipeline with Ed so there's some toys for the kids to play with at future shows.

my only 'down side' on it that i can really think of is this;
"you've gone so far to get it to this stage, why not go just a little further and make it work?"
in the words of mrs doyle; "ah go on go on go on go on go on go on go on GO ON!!!"

Of course it's not a 7 series: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_E38 Why would anyone build a set of sunroof missiles to fit in the sunroof of a 7 series?
Since driving with real or real-looking weapons is a felony in California this is a removable assembly that slips into the sunroof opening for shows when parked so I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the reactions of local traffic!
I'm unpacking the car as we speak - will have some shots of the charity ball in the next day or two. Quite a success, everybody loved the car and the event raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Boys and Girls club. And I got plenty of good wisecracks in with my John Cleese-y Q costume.

Because a 7 series would make it more authentic?

Good eye! I couldn't find any reference shots of the rockets from TND except an illustration on the UK quad poster so I used the TWINE Estes Bullpup rockets and modified them a little bit to look like what you could see on screen in TND as well as the poster.
Here's the album for the evening:

(It should be plain from the full sized shots that this is actually a 1997 7 series of the E38 model line, the same model and year used for the film... the only change I made was I went for grey leather instead of black as an accomodation to the California summers)

Also, the brake lights were disabled on all of the stunt cars so it looked like Bond had the pedal down during the entire chase!

As in a way I admire.
But you yourself are nothing so divine.
Just next in line.
