is it just me or was Q particularly cranky to connery and moores bonds, and particularly friendly and warm to dalton and brosnans ones

Well here is my theory based on absolutely nothing- Desmond was finding his character more and more as the movies progressed. That plus the writing. If you look at something as early as FRWL, his character was mostly informative and was more about instruction and following orders in his explanation of the briefcase to Bond. Then as the movies progressed, Q kept changing. Later on, he started becoming a bigger part of the films when there started to be more gadgets mentioned and used. Then he started becoming a humor part that the fans liked more and more and wanted to see. Like I said, based on nothing. So dont be too harsh on my reply.
