Clearly, the people who fell in love with the early Bond films don't believe in little something called evolution. Characters grow and evolve over the years and that's exactly what James Bond has done. I mean, Batman has evolved over the years so, what's wrong with the evolution of a Double-O Agent?
Lots. For many people on these boards. May have to do with the fact that they are afraid of change or taking another step. I myself am afraid of change. But then understand that it's just evolution. As you said. Jump and enjoy. Take the step, look back, and then fall in love with the now and all that was.
It is a challenge.
With a beautiful reward.

I've seen angels fall from blinding heights.
But you yourself are nothing so divine.
I wonder what M buys Bond for Christmas ? If she buys Ashtrays For non smokers I'd expect Bond to get. Some fluffy Dice for the Aston or A DVD on how to play Poker )
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."

I always had James Bond pegged as a practical kind of guy ever since the Italian broad in Casino Royale (2006) posed the question, "You like married women, don't you James?" and his reply was, "It keeps things simple." That line just screams PRACTICALITY to me, because it's obvious that Bond wanted the luxury of having sex with a woman but without the probable stress, that supposedly comes with every romantic relationship.
So, therefore if Bond were to receive a material item from his boss, he would probably want something that's very practical. Something that he'll actually use. It might be something that he'll want to use over and over again for the sake of practicality and simple convenience.
"Your orders were to shoot that sniper!"
"Stuff my orders! I only kill professionals. That woman didn't know one end of a rifle from the other. Go ahead, tell M. what you want. If he fires me, I'll thank him for it."
