I won't say I'm "hotly anticipating" this, but the more promos for Rise of the Planet of the Apes I see, the more intrigued I am. Maybe it's just because this is clearly a movie that sets up the beloved original film and not the needless Tim Burton version.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy looks like its shaping up to be a cracker. Really looking forward to it. I recently watched The Spy Who Came In From The Cold, and I'm now really in the mood for another serious spy movie. The cast looks incredible and the visuals look great as well. I'm going to try read the novel before it comes out. Never read a Le Carre before - perhaps now is the time.

Guilty pleaure-style Justin Timberlake vehicle, a Bond reference in the trailer.

Wouldn't Cillian Murphy have been good as QoS's Mr Green?

    Lone Ranger Halts Production!

Walt Disney shuts down Lone Ranger
In a shocking move, Walt Disney Pictures has halted production on director Gore Verbinski's Western adaptation of Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer as the title character and Johnny Depp as Tonto.

The major reason the production stopped was the movie's ballooning budget, which some reports have clocking in at $250 million. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer managed to get the budget down to $232 million, but Disney wanted it at $200 million even, and wouldn't go above that number.

Another reason the shoot, which was to take place later this fall, has been put on indefinite hold is because of Walt Disney's ballooning live action slate, which includes the potentially risky John Carter and Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Even though Lone Ranger was in pre-production, meaning money has been spent on the project, and that Johnny Depp will get paid his full salary whether or not the film gets made, it was the easiest film to pull back on.

This is the second Western after The Dark Tower to suddenly stop production. Some speculate that Cowboys & Aliens' poor reception at the box office may have been the nail in Lone Ranger's coffin.

Lone Ranger could move to another studio, or it may still get made by Walt Disney, but a long time into the future.

Lone Ranger comes to theaters December 21st, 2012 and stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Ruth Wilson, Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Dwight Yoakam. The film is directed by Gore Verbinski

Interesting to read even Disney Balks at the Budget of some Movies, $232 mil and they Pull the Plug, Not expecting it to do the Business, It would seem Western's aren't in fashion.

Cowboys & Aliens aint done well. Can't say I'm surprised.

I think Craig might do well to be in an ensemble piece like Wild Geese or Magnificent 7. I'm not sure he can carry a film by himself, for the simple reason that it's hard to write for a strong silent type. He isn't quite up there with McQueen or Eastwood. But in a group flick with others to carry the fireworks, he'd be brilliant.
