Warhead 1978 by kevin mcclory sean connery and len deighton

Would you have liked it to have been made? I have read the script and i find it very over the top, but it seems alot of bond fans love the over the top movies.

Umm, aren't all Bond films over the top?

Wasn't this made as "Never Say Never Again"?

Not really, warhead strayed off the thunderball story, never say never again was a more straight forward remake of thunderball.

How many versions of Thunderball do we need? I'm starting to wonder how much of the original Thunderball story he actually wrote. He doesnt seem very creative, it seems he had trouble finding more ideas. Besides how many dozens of action movies involve stolen warheads already.

The Warhead script was a big blockbuster type film that predated The Spy Who Loved Me in its use of aquatic hardwear. In fact, that film was used some say to preempt Warhead, in particular its use of a supertanker. I'd have to say Spy is the better film, but Warhead might have been interesting. It seemed a bit silly at times though and I'm not sure Connery was a great judge of scripts really. It did have a great climax on the Statue of Liberty and electronic sharks in the New York sewers (what gives?) but not really very realistic, I think it had its main emphasis on silliness.

Had it been made it might have derailed Moore's Bond - and the EON series - for good.

I am glad that Warhead did not get made. Even thought I don't mind Bond movies being over the top at times, just reading about the propsal for the story makes my head spin. Also I agree with jeffch, one version of Thunderball was enough.
Even it had been made with Connery starring as Bond, it would have not made money at the boxoffice, or been popular with movie goers either.
