It looks like Sir Sean doesn't want to come to Bonds 50th Birthday celebrations :(

There has been a couple of articles appearing that Connery is the only Bond who doesn't want to take part.

    I am pretty sure, that if they follow the same strategy like with DAF (which means **** on him with cash), he'll make up his mind quickly....

    I'm actually quite surprised, I thought it would have been Dalton that snubbed it as he has a reputation for not wanting to be associated with Bond. 8-)

    But it shouldn't take money to make him be a part of this. Bond launched his career (yes?) and the fact that he is not wanting to take part... well that is just so sad, especially as he is considered 'The Best Bond' (not my opinion....)

    Well, we should keep in mind, that Sir Sean always felt, that he has gotten not, what he deserved in terms of money. Of course, he's probably the only one in the world with that opinion but I know how difficult it is to tell Asp9mm, that he's wrong.

    Old men are weird sometimes ;) expecially, when they are casually wearing skirts. :))

    This is just pure speculation on my part but being James Bond was a lifetime ago for Sean Connery and he might not remember it, very well in this day and age.

    I loved him as James Bond and I suspect I'll always regard him as the best - and I've enjoyed a number of his other films too - but can't say that I've ever heard much about Sean Connery the person that makes him sound particularly endearing. I've never met him and tend to avoid gossip, but whereas you always hear what a gentleman Roger Moore is, you never hear many glowing words about Connery. The interviews in which he stated it wasn't necessarily wrong to hit a woman were particularly low points for me that find me difficult to warm to him. His current decision not to attend the Anniversary certainly haven't made me re-think my reservations unfortunately.

    As others have said, Bond was a long time ago for Connery...but where would he be without those films? Yes, I've enjoyed a number of the films he has made since, but none of them were actually masterpieces.

    Ursula Andress said some pretty good things about Sean Connery in this "Inside Dr. No," documentary but that was a long time ago....Who knows, she might have changed her mind about him since then.

    "Big Tam" has retired and even if the 50th party was going to be held on a golf course within walking distance of his home - I doubt he would attend.

    I not too broken up over his no show. I won't be going either!

    Because 'Tam' is the scottish abbreviation for Thomas, Connerys real name. He was known locally as 'Big Tam' because of his size and build :)

    Not too surprised by this news. Connery stepped down as a patron of the Edinburgh Film Festival last year and his speech seemed to imply he was retiring from public life. Shame, It would be fantastic to see all the Bonds together.

    He also did not reappear as Henry Jones in the last "Raiders" film -- a very wise decision on his part by the way. When he retired from acting, he seemed to retire from public life, too. He said at some point he was having a tougher time remembering the lines while making "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," and I think he's probably not in quite the same physical health as we're used to seeing . . . from his point of view, if that is the case, I can understand why he probably wants the public to remember the more vital image of him rather than see him in decline. Plus he still has a beef with the Brocollis, and whatever this event is, it's likely to help market the Bond franchise more than pay tribute to the film series that Connery was sometimes unhappy with doing business.
