Hi gang, occasionally I like to peek in the gun related threads to see if anyone has tackled making a resin replica of the Literary Bond's Beretta model 418 complete with taped butt and a suppressor, like the one put together by AJB member 7289:
Around the time 7289 posted his article, "The Handguns of Ian Fleming’s James Bond," http://jamesbond.ajb007.co.uk/handguns-of-james-bond/, I asked him about the prospect of casting replicas of his Beretta but unfortunately, resin and moldmaking aren't in his realm of expertise (his seems more along gunsmithing and related metalwork); I however, have neither skill and want to avoid having to alter a real Beretta 418 let alone trying to acquire one. Has anyone done this already, or is interested in making a replica Bond Beretta in kit form, or finished as I suppose some would prefer?
Ultimately, I want to put together a glass covered shadow box of the literary James Bond's artifacts, such as the gunmetal cigarette case and Ronson lighter, the Magnoli produced JB passport replica, then maybe include the "first edition" hardbounds, etc., to create a similar effect as the Pan still-life collage paperbacks, but the silenced Beretta would just cement the visual impact.
"...the purposeful slant of his striding figure looked dangerous, as if he was making quickly for something bad that was happening further down the street." -SMERSH on 007 dossier photo, Ch. 6 FRWL.....
Paul,
Please don't let that stop you.
I've "put the kettle on"
The "Gold" machine gun is actually brass. It's a 30-06 water-cooled Browning M1917.
The GE Q-lab Machine gun you are referring to is a replica of the M-134 G.E. Minigun that you spot mounted to the rear of a jeep in Goldeneye. It makes another appearance mounted to Zao's car.
Actually, it's a replica of the Mini-gun in the configuration it was used as in the film "Predator" it was carried by Jesse Ventura and refereed to as "Ole Painless"
It's completly scratchbuilt by Steve (SD Studios) except for the M60 Machine gun foregrip I supplied. Only 2 were made. The one Steve had was sold many years ago.

spot on ed....i was travelling so cdnt check the dvd but now i have i see what u mean....the mg in red box is different....
never noticed the one in goldeneye is the same minigun as zao's, but mounted with sights etc !....
The machine gun in red is a Browning M2HB (HB=Heavy Barrel) This is sometimes referred to as the "Ma' Deuce" I first became aware of it seeing it mounted on the rear of a WWII Willys Jeep in the TV Show "The Rat Patrol"
I'm pretty sure the one in green is the Maxim MG08 (as seen in "The Living Daylights") but It DOES bear a resemblence to the Vickers as seen in "FlyBoys" (except that has a fluted barrel)

thx Ed tgt it was the "first true machine gun" as whitaker says...
But the flute confused me too...
I am flattered by all of the kind and encouraging comments. It’s very fulfilling to have the respect of fellow collectors and know you are not the only one working away in the basement to create a recognizable Bond prop. I have to admit that all of the friendships (Dave, Ed, Joe, Rick, and Christof of course!) and nearly daily calls to Ed help me to achieve better results. Thank you all. If I posted every Bond item I have, one per day, if would take several years before I could show it all. Much of it is Bond toys, and my main collecting focus has been the Bond vehicles, especially the Aston Martin DB5. I'll try to post some random, but worthwhile items this weekend. Attached are photos of the wooden DB5 I made for my son to enter in the Pinewood derby. Sincerely, George.
So, what sharp little eyes you've got...wait till you get to my teeth.

When my son presented the handmade pine-wood derby at school they thought it was store bought, and so it received little attention. Here is an operational paper Aston Martin I made from an Argentinean 1960's magazine, modified of course to have working ejector seat and bullet proof screen. Also, a picture of a heavly modified Aurora Super Spy Car kit from 1966 that includes screen images from Godlfinger, including the tiny Auric boxes and yellow belted baddie. Sincerely, George

Wow ed what can I say....
And where to begin?
Btw is that a 19century vickers maxim?
And what is the gold machine gun in the foreground of the top pic? ( which has been dismounted in the lower pic...)
Finally would 9pm be alright for a visit?...
I handled the original grapler at the auction and can say yours looks a lot better! And more accurate....
Cheers
Come on David this isn't ed's backyard at all !
It's actually the whole of the Canadian armoured Corp on manoeuvres
PS: It's not my backyard either.
9:00 would be fine. I'll keep a light on.

nice little Bond connection of course!..... "the first true machine gun".... -{
but this ios is a different colour from the one in the film...

What others have bond connections?

It are really the details (time) that make these props.
Thanks for sharing George.
