I came across a free eBooks download website when searching for a particular book. On the site you can search through a whole library of books which you can download as pdf files, but first I need to register.

Does anyone know if this is totally legal, or is it another of these torrent sites?

    I'd say it's a scam. I've seen my own book--an academic tome most people wouldn't find interesting--advertised for a "free download," and I've never authorized such a thing, nor am I getting royalties for it. Be very careful here.

    Lots of legit sites including Amazon and Google offer free ebooks for their respective readers; these are typically older titles that are in the public domain and its a great way to sample some classic literature. Beyond that though, if you're seeing new titles being offered for "free" its either a scam or the titles are being offered illegally.
