Suit Worn By Le Chiffre

Hello all! I come forward to you with a question today. Is anyone able to identify the suit worn by Le Chiffre in Casino Royale? It seems to me as though it is velvet but I am not 100% certain. I have been told that the suit may have been created by Armani but there was still no guarantee. Secondly, is anyone able to tell me who they feel produced the suit, and also where my best chance of finding something very similar would be? Thanks all in advance!

Here is a photo as a piece of reference:

The tuxedo worn by Le Chiffre is made of black velvet, & was made by Brioni (who dressed every player at the poker table). It looks like the shirt, bow tie, & facings on the jacket lapels are all made from matching silk.

A velvet dinner jacket can probably be found at a higher-end menswear store, & this inexpensive shirt looks similar to the movie one, although it's a poly-cotton blend instead of silk: http://www.clermontdirect.com/black-pleated-fold-down-collar-dress-shirt-p-231.html

Creating a complete replica of the entire outfit would probably have to be a custom made-to-measure or bespoke job, considering the uniqueness of the details.

    Hi Le Chiffre,

adding to BLU8's comments, I advice that you find a good quality - but sensibly priced tailor. (That's what I did for my dinner suit.) Get some good screencaps or photos from the film and speak to such a tailor. Also consider the advantages of the fact you will have a say in the design. - colour of the lining, how many pockets and where positioned, etc etc. But beware, even at a good price, you will still have to pay! - In that I say focus on the three piece suit, and look to cheaper alternatives (Again as BLU8 has noted with the shirt) for the other elements.

It takes a bit of time, research - not to mention money, but its worth it! :007)
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

Where did you find the Brioni information?
If you can't trust a Swiss banker, what's the world come to?

It's from the production notes/interview with Lindy Hemming: http://www.visualhollywood.com/movies/casino-royale/about11.php

According to her, they used velvet for Le Chiffre's tuxedo in order to emphasize his wealth.

As for tailors in the Niagara area, sorry, but I'm afraid I'm no help. I live about 45 minutes west of Toronto (near Hamilton), and I rarely head to the Niagara area unless I'm crossing the border for States shopping.

If you have no luck finding a local tailor to help you out, I'd suggest Indy Magnoli: http://www.magnoliclothiers.com/

He has lots of experience replicating movie costumes & clothing (especially Bond items), & his work is top-notch. I'm sure he could help you out.
